The Essentials line is pretty nice sculpt wise but you can't really pull any cool poses with them.

It wouldn't have worked with what they were going for, the reason his makeup looks so clownish in the first place compared to other versions is because of Thomas Wayne basically looking down on the lower class and underachievers of Gotham and reducing them to "clowns"

Thanks, I might stick to Multiverse then. The Icons Nightwing is nearly perfect and it has the fingerstripes I love, but its a bit too small. On the bright side it'll probably pair well with the Mafex

I guess, and the director definately wanted to make it look different enough, but I was still hoping for something like the Dark Prince Charming facepaint look. Keeping the eye make-up, streamlining the mouth paint, keeping the hair length and style but maybe slicked back.

I have the Multiverse one too. The Icons is just better imo. He scales better with every other 1/12 scale toyline. I've been planning on pairing him and Damian with Mafex Batman. That thing can't come out fast enough.

The only reason I want another Nightwing beyond the Icons is just that it scales badly with Red Hood/ Tim figures. feels weird having the oldest Robin being dwarfed by the younger ones. Even worse, since I 'm trying to go for a pre-new 52 look my Tim is the all-Stars Red robin, which is huge.

Mafex Comic figures have been much closer in scale to american figures for a while now. "Being a runt" next to a Mezco is a symptom of Mezco's xboxhueg proportions where every character is as wide as a refrigerator

The scene where he laughed at all the wrong parts of the jokes? I think that was also imaginary. Notice the crowd didn't react to him laughing whereas in other parts of the movie his laugh was distracting to anyone in the scene with him, like you could tell the people behind him on the bus at the beginning were disturbed by him.

I meant in comparison to the DC Multiverse stuff. The MEzco's only really an option because its the closest to a plain, pre NEw 52 articulated batman for now besides the older DC Superheroes S3 ones, but those are less articulated. Mafex are still a bit scrawny compared to DCUC/Multiverse.

Sideshow's old figures are mostly holding strong, but a LOT of early Hot Toys have gone to shit. I have their Comedian and his outfit has straight up started melting off his body over the years due to a chemical reaction caused between the plastic of his body and the rubber of his costume. I know their early Batman figures are having the same problem but on a larger scale because the suits are full body. All the figures that had rubber bodies (G.I. Joes, Rambo, etc.) have had their muscles dry and crack over the years. People say all that's fixed, but only time will tell.

Yeah, but what got me was that he had so much enthusiasm and was trying so hard and it was clear that he could never be successful at it. More poignant to me than him getting punched or whatever.

Well, there you have it: you start thinking something like that is imaginary, which really doesn't serve the story at all, where would it stop? I bet the filmmakers fell in love with the fan theory that Taxi Driver's climax was a dream sequence (or DKR's ending) and thought it would be kino to drop ambiguous hints to that effect all over the place. There must be a thousand Reddit essays already that he never escaped the cops and the whole climax with Murray didn't happen.

Used to be DCUC. Nowadays, I don't think there really is anything that is equivalent to Marvel Legends in terms of longevity, scope, or uniformity. I kind of miss DCUC. Yeah, it had a bunch of problems, but it kinda felt awesome to have this one unified line that contained everyone I wanted.

It also contained a Lobo that I still believe is the most perfect Lobo ever made. I am so fucking glad I was able to get ahold of this guy, his aftermarket price is ridiculous.
