Knight's Kingdom II was the final Lego "story" theme not to have an obligatory girl member of the main team wasn't it? Bionicle came around slightly before and had a girl but I still feel like KK2 was the last of these old "boy's club" themes.

Yeah, that's actually what keeps the alignment of both sides mostly identical so the wings don't swing in any directions they want.

Just tell him to send it back and pay him back. Sometimes customers can be really picky, but I've had damaged stuff in the mail before too and haven't asked the seller for a refund because transport damage is not his fault.

I built the Blacktron 3 fighter over 2 years ago while I just got finished building the Blacktron 1 fighter a few minutes ago.

I have a few more examples of equivalent ships and builds I might post if people enjoy this.

They were never used as CS helmets, but were used as Knight helmets for the first Lego Castle waves.

I got the CMF figure with the gray CS logo torso so I decided it was time to put the gray astronaut together.

As far as dark grey goes, you might be right, but I dread having to go through the entire Blacktron 3 MOC inventory and redo them.

I've currently got maybe 20+ MOCs in that theme.

don't know where else to ask this so i've come to you guys. i've been trying to find this guy i used to watch on youtube that used to review lego sets. i think he was an older gentleman but not sure. i remember he made a custom miniature train and a ski slope i believe. i've been searching for reviews of several older sets (he did those a lot) but no luck. I remember he had a lot of stuff in the background of his videos typically (for example some sort of toy amusement park attraction).

Your Blacktron 3 color scheme still needs a third contrasting color. Just "Black with green lights" is very dull compared to B1 and B2

Given that the Blacktron III fighter is chunkier and slightly heavier armored than the Blacktron I one, I'd recommend swapping the wings for some built out from the side the same way the cheese slopes at the front of the fuselage are. Also, >>7792810 is right. I'd suggest trans-neon orange or trans-dark pink.

Me. I had orange tow truck from this comic. It was a gift. I threw oversized minifig into my Lego box and customized truck to be a regular Lego. Added a lot of details, proper interior too. It ended up as a nice orange truck to go with older 2000s Arctic sets.

I'll never forget the LEGO store I used to work at accidentally ordering an enormous box of Jack Stone figures. I'm seriously talking old Death Star box size. I gave those away like candy to any kid who looked even remotely upset just to get rid of them. I bet that box is still half full in the back room somewhere.

3 studs = aroung 1 real meter. At least in most architecture. It also makes sense for vehicles. 6 wide car would be 2 meters wide which is accurate enough since most of road cars are 180-190cm wide.

Lukewarm water and dish soap, let the pieces soak in it and then rinse them in clean water.
Dont't get the water too hot or the pieces will melt and warp.
Use a soft painting brush if there's dirt stuck inside.
Rubbing alcohol & elbow grease are good for surface dirt.

I've been told this quite a few times, I've gotten to the point where I'm probably certain I'm going to do it.
What I need to do to make it happen is go over all the builds, decide what parts will become this new (most likely dark gray) accent color then make a complete list of all the parts needed and order them.
Then comes the dreaded part of taking everything apart, adding the new color and putting it back together.

You'll need to apply some subjective squishing and stretching in the end. You work in the spectrum of realworld human proportions that you refer to and the super shortlegged and beefy wide proportioned legofigures. In the end it's all about choosing what looks best and technically works best for play or cost.
As a general rule of thumb: very small things are a lot bigger than they are in IRL scale, but if you do something large like a house i scale it down a bit for cost and the 'toyish' proportions feel.

It's one of 3 (??) standalone steet cleeing vehicle sets ever released. I think there was one in 80s, one in 90s and one in 2000s. They do their job and keep your LEGO city clean.

Almost all sets were unfinished and janky looking while relying on those large poops. I get it, the originals did that too. But now those large preformed pieces looked just tacky and awful. Incorporating the worst aspects of technic sets and bonkle aesthetics. Now i'm willing to agree that 8960 looked pretty good. But most sets just had the cheapest and flimsiest looking builds, reliant fully on their giant reject actionfigure accesory pieces making size/quantity over quality structures.

But sure, the colourscheme of rockraiders was what made the theme so memorable.
With its grimy dirty grays, browns and dark torqoise with yellow accents A tasteful mix of sci-fi elements with a grounded and industrial touch to it.
Too bad they replaced it by the literal worst colourscheme of all time. that ditched the grounded and well thought-out colourscheme ideas of its predecessor by not only making everything neon-coloured. (completely losing its industrial dirty blue-collar appeal) But by picking the most obnoxious chinese fisherprice knockoff pallette that was availabe at the time.
While Powerminers sets looked a bit more finished than Exo-force (wich also suffered from lots of exposed technic covered in large curved pieces), i think Exo-force pulled the Rockraiders appeal off better than its actual spiritual successor.

Rock Raiders was awful. The colour scheme was terrible, but at least memorable, like you said. The colour scheme was better than Rock Raiders by far but the lack of lime green pieces outside of the theme meant MOCcing was much harder.

I understand what you mean, but I genuinely thought it was good. Not used very 'neatly' integrated into builds maybe good nonetheless.
But ofcourse there is subjectivity involved. I just really dislike the lego Lime colour outside of alien skincolour or very very sparse accent colours.

Again i mostly agree. This individuality and general weirdness, experimentation and expressiveness is why i really like those faces.
Not all of them really worked or were a good fit for the 'universal' style of lego faces, but as long as they weren't exoforce tier weird they could still serve their purposes.
I made the early 2000s comp for a discussion here quite a while ago and i added some of the 2009ish (?) era of normal city people faces that were super prevalent. Compared to these the early 2000s ones had so much character. I'd rather see figures go more towards the wacky and expressive spectrum and keep the 'normal' faces the true og lego smile like they held onto in the Modular expert line.
As a footnote, i do think lego rides a very good line between both doing more exotic faces and expressions while also keeping a universal aesthetic language that ties them together without the playmobil soullessness that i see in the upper part of the image.

dunno, this might be a association thing first and foremost
but while these sets also had the powerminers unfinished look to them with lots of technic and curved bricks. They sold me better on the 'crude used machinery' vibe. Especially the evil robot faction with sets like 7711 and 7702.
It depends on what set though, some of the humans had more bright and cartoony looks to them.

We grew up with 90% 2x bricks [late 70s] and the first and most common thing I built was the 2x pyramid. My kids have no idea what I'm talking about and there literally aren't enough 2x bricks in their substantial collection to show them.

I hated them at the time as I mostly wanted to make vehicles, but now the lack of large bricks seems like a bummer and I miss them.

I never really liked the 'rule's as of why a colourscheme is good or legit or not.
You could make a triad out of lime orange and blue too, but that in itself doesn't take context into account.
If you really want you can make any selection of colours work together if you can limit yourself, but you have to direct them in a way that it doesnt become illegible either through information overload or too little contrast. If either of those is what you're going for that points moot too.

Rock Raiders is grounded scifi. Lots of greys keeps it grounded, cyan is a scifi color. Yellow is the accent color, and brown is used sparingly as an additional detailing color (mostly just the roll cages and propellors) which is earthy and reinforces the grounded gritty tone, also matching the color of the ore that they're mining

There is context for the colors as well as valid color harmony.

I'm partially colorblind, so the color wheel is really helpful for a reference on where to start, but I usually stick to two bright colors and some shade(s) of bley for the trim

Thanks; I probably overcompensate by cranking up the vibrancy and contrast

I'm partially blue-green colorblind. Pale blue tends to look gray to me, and I have a really hard time discerning between bluish-green hues because it all looks teal. I have a lot of green pants that I thought were gray when I bought them, so now I buy pants online or have someone in the store with me confirm what color they actually are.

I love and hate those faces at the same time. Some of my all-time favourite themes are from this era and they definitely have unique and fun pieces. The cartoony faces (as long as they aren't too cartoonish) fit nicely with Lego because Lego is already cartoony. Some faces are downright awful though. The demented faces on the third row, second and third from left will most likely haunt my dreams for a long time. As for the last part you mentioned, I think the biggest problem for this is City, as they re-use the same heads over and over resulting in a more homogeneous range of minifigure heads. Again, this is speculation, but I think it may be to appeal to the City builders who can have a load of generic looking faces and not disrupt the aesthetic of their city. I think that's simply down to Exo-Force having more attention put into it than Power Miners. Exo-Force had an established team and backstory to work with and the manga inspiration meant it had plenty of areas for it to visually borrow from. Power Miners had a sentence as their backstory and that was it, didn't they? I'm sure the only backstory was that they were investigating strange rumblings underground. Power Miners was lucky to get a second wave to be honest, I didn't realise there was enough demand that it got a second wave with even less backstory than before.

What are some unlicenced LEGO sets that are dead giveaways to real things. I mean something that is so similar than it can't be a generic LEGO design but a very specific real life based thing. This plane comes to my mind. It's almost identical to one of the kind Beechcraft Starship and while there are differences, it can not be confused with any other plane.

K so I built the new Falcon. Overall it's ok but it's not the straight improvement I initially thought it was. Yes the top has minimal gaps but those still appear in weird places around the sides. The only other falcon I have is the Kessel run version and the front is filled in a bit better imo on that one.

Other thing that really annoyed me is that you cannot close the panels with characters sitting around the dejirak table so I had to rearrange the seats as you can. See in pic.

Otherwise it's a great falcon to fill with your ot minifigs as I have done but definitely wait for a sale before picking it up.

From what I've seen of it, it's still largely the same TT formula that they've used since 2005, just with the toys to life gimmick for character selection.
Personally I can only stomach one TT lego game every 5 years or so, but if the base game and level packs are cheap enough for you now it probably wouldn't hurt

It's fine, basically like any other Lego game, but with heavily inflated prices. Only buy in if you can get the packs for really cheap and will actually have a use for the figures and parts afterwards. Otherwise it's just not worth it. Though the adventure worlds are incredibly fun to me.

We ended up talking for a bit about Classic Space and Pirates sets we were thinking about building in the near future, it was fucking cool.

Yeah, I'm really, really hoping that they get included in a standard set so I can order a bunch of them from Lego. I've got a problem in my area where the TLM2 CMFs didn't sell at all so the shelves are still clogged with them and fresh boxes of the Disney CMFs. This means that only the biggest Walmart bothered to order a single box of S19 that I didn't get to until it had already been picked over.

Still lots of TLM2 and Disney figs, though.

I usually take the largest foam cup I can get from the local Wawa or Sonic drive thu and add some water and dish soap. I use Dawn cus Lego is measurably stronger than baby ducks. Use a little water and add a handful of bricks. I swirl it then pour the water and soap out of the lid hole. I do a few rinses and swirls then dump the bricks on a nice beach towel. It may take a little time, but it gets them nice and clean. The foam cup will eventually die from hundreds of internal Lego cuts. Hope you do good.

I'd pick out all the prints to be sure, but google around for the washingmachine technique. You put all the pieces in a secure cloth bag and then do a short cycle. I don't remember it in detail and have never tried it. But i'm sure you can find out about it when searching around. I figure that's the quickest way for a lot of pieces.
With prints (and ofcourse, stickers if they're in there) and maybe even windows i'd be wary of the pieces scratching together too much though. I'd be critical of this if you find something, but for most opaque and already kinda old and used pieces it will be a lesser problem.
If there are any rubber tires, i'd strongly suggest not putting them in hot water. I found out the rubber starts to 'sweat' very quickly that way and there's no turning back from that point.

Eventually I had to confirm some personal info to make sure i owned my account and the shipping adres was correct.
So when i told him my street (notorious for its many gaybars) he was all like 'oh.. I really like your street anon..' and shifted tone a bit.
Still makes me laugh some young guy on the lego autism hotline was hitting on me.
I never asked for this despite it being flattering, but i guess thats what you can expect if you love playing with dollhouses unironically.

Like, if i was there i'd remember every little thing and i'd love to discuss little details and stuff. The guests were kind of in professional camerapersona mode and not that personally invested and i feel Jang was personally kinda messing with them and very aware of that. I used to have a bunch of Jack Stone type minifigures, including the two "civilian" minifigs instead of the JS variants and rescue pilot guys from a very old misc. building bucket, but then threw them away because enough time had passed that I was a dumb tween instead of dumb kid but realized that Jack Stone type minifigures were far inferior to traditional Lego minifigures.

I had them too, mostly as gifts, but I mostly used them for pieces. The only exception was a really cool, although still juniorized, digger. Everything else has been taken apart and used in MOCs. Vehicle wheelbases were the most useless pieces I had. I can't remember using them for anything else than a Jeep.

It does, it does, and I did. Just depends on whether the worker realizes what they're scanning, because the barcode sticker on the side of the box rings up at $3.97.

I tried it again a few weeks later at a store in a different city just for fun but that worker realized that it was a display box and told me no.

I tried doing it in 7 wide first but it just doesnt work properly, 8 wide seems best for this model.

It has full front steering, basic suspension in the front and back. seats two in the front and i think i can get two more in the rear seats but that might be a pain.

Interesting, I think I have a similar attitude. And I’m not sure if I would be happy with the thought of letting a third party sell my stuff (even with a cut, which I believe most sites give you), it just feels like someone meddling in my hobby, that was originally just intended for myself.

Not too much, I removed a couple of catapults to replace them with machineguns and an anti air gun. The only "play" thing that is left is the castle door that opens with a crank and the bridge that opens and closes
I alredy got Led bricks to use them inside the castle and 4 32x32 plates and 2 32x16 ones to use as a base for the whole set of castle vehicles, wall bricks, sandbags, extra soldiers, a christmas tree, pines and flowers

Maybe i've been here too long, but i saw fun subversive humor wrap back around to genuine politicization. Poe's law and all. On an off note, i never really was a such a fan of military replica builders and stuff. Like i enjoy the look and style and engineering of those vehicles a ton. But those giant historical recreations at fairs always felt a bit 'srs mocs for serious adult moccers such as myself' might be a generational gap thing though. I just like more fantastical things in general. Lego has this inherently childish charm to that trying to go for the serious, dark and mature vibe kinda falls flat.

The first WW2 "set" I got was the one with Adolf and 5 SS soldiers, I really liked them, all of them came in flesh color, and when I started thinking about making a christmas scene and looked for more soldiers all of them came in flesh, so I started the fleshy army. Even the medieval castle came with pink knights, I think most chink sets are made in flesh
By the way, if you like the engineering of vehicles, check pic related, its really awesome

Seems like you've just got a bunch of infantry and no auxiliary support. If they're hanging out in a castle over Christmas, you've got a few options for non-combatants that could be interacting with the troops in various vignettes around the area:
>civilian staff
>motor pool mechanics
>POWs
>local villagers
>visiting bureaucrats
>officer POWs
>dogs, cats, etc.

If you don't want to have yellowfigs in it, you could just ali some more fleshies and swap their parts out.

The quality is great, but there's been a few times theres a missing piece or two, for example, in the castle there were 2 missing 1x1 pieces, luckily I had a few of those from a set of 10 that I had ordered. But that has been the only time I've had missing pieces.

The quality of the instructions greatly varies from maker to maker, the instrucions from the castle were really good, but the bag pieces were not numbered, so you had to look at all of them to find certain ones, I shit you not, I spent 8 hours building it.

The ones from this >>7800706 tank were great, the bags were numbered, so it was a quick build, and it took like 1 hour and a half.

Soldier quality varies, you can easily get 12 german soldiers for $3 dollars, but more detailed ones are around $13 dollars for six, with a bunch of accesories, like in pic related, they look way better

I've never had any problem with my packages from aliexpress, even orders of 1 single figure arrive without problem.

I would advise you to search in the block category and order by "new" to check the newest sets they add, also, because of the ADL you no longer can search "lego Hitler", look for "german leader", "german chancellor" or something similar
