I know near nothing about KOTS, don't care for them too much but a few of the figures look interesting, alas the colors I'd even consider buying have came and went.
That said, I looked at the new Action Figure of the Month, all the figures they're showing on there look like hot shit. Is there any other incentive to back it? I'd have no interest in any of those figures they're trying to make for the 2020 campaign.

But that's how the last campaign ran. This isn't a new thing. I did six months and got lucky enough to buy out someone's remaining year. Plus, there's usually (but not always) a limited quantity of the month's figure put up for sale. If you can only do one month you'll also have access to the backerkit store, which once that's gone, it's gone. It's not that dire of a situation, it's just buying toys.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: pick one basic recurring color and buy every mold in it. You'll have a good stable of parts to build with, and the basic colors (like black, white, grey, clear, silver) will match with virtually ANYTHING as an accent color, so adding in other parts is no problem.

If a building, say the bathroom at your local park, was built in, say, 1925, and it got damaged badly in a storm, it'd cost a whole lot more to fix it than it would to build a new one from scratch. Why is that? A lot of the materials we used at the turn of the century just aren't as readily available anymore, and the expertise to work with them isn't as prevalent amongst skilled tradesman. Also, buildings like this are very unlikely to be ADA-compliant or compliant with a number of other governmental regulations, regulations that a local government would have to now meet before completing any new work on such a structure. Lastly, you have to add in the bureaucratic overhead that's inevitable in such a project, not to mention the drastic ballooning of funds from companies bidding on such a project who know they can squeeze a lot more from the metaphorical government stone than they could from a private citizen. In the end it's a recipe for disaster, leading to a grossly inflated budget to make small repairs relative to the public's perception of the value and monetary worth of the building in the first place. To be more specific, we could be talking about estimates in excess of $300,000 to fix a smashed-in roof resulting from a felled tree, an exorbitant price north of most single-family homes in the current economy.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that the shitty Duke Nukem sculpt is kind of like that. Completely beyond saving.

To be fair, Marty probably didn't pay retail (or at all) for all of them. He's a pretty prolific creator and tight with the crew, pretty sure some of those were gifted to him and also a good number of those are his own personal creations.

The entire case is easily above $10,000, there's no question about it.

Just on the one level that we see in the three pictures, I see ~250 travelers on shelves and ~120 in front of the shelves, so at $10/each that's $3,700 in travelers.

22 Nemesis, so at $20/each that's another $440.

So on this one shelf we're north of $4000, and we only get peeks of the shelves above and below that seem to be full of Kabuto Mushis, Zullens, and Bio-mass Monsters. It also doesn't count the massive number of resin heads (not cheap).

It's insane. It's an amazing collection no doubt.

Yes, it's Marty's collection, a few days before that he was posting all those clear red resin heads on his Instagram. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was him that posted those very pics to /toy/, look at the phrasing. "Not posted to sell/advertise or for clarity." That was in response to my post making fun of him for posting the least visible color/mix of resin possible on those heads.

I'm an odd man out for kots fans. I only but what I like and I love to mess with them and switch around parts. They'r like low effort gi joes that I can change the outfit of. They like kind of shitty figures in one sense, but they're good /toys/. You know? But man some of the people in the fb and discord make me sad. Not just the completionists, but like the people who don't seem to have much else and post shit just to fleetingly get Jesse's attention. Or tell him how they can only afford this or that right now. If you listen you can tell it sometimes weirds him out too in the podcasts.

If they just had fucking knees, though. Jfc. Whenever I pick up some cheap blank that I don't particular want, I have plan for adding knees that I want to try.

Most glyos collectors are definitely on the poorer side, it's literally always been this way with lots of fans sitting out every other drop and barely scraping together enough for a figure or two here or there. The lines are definitely propped up by a handful of mega buyers. I used to be one of these, spending anywhere between 3-5k a year on glyos for about 4 or 5 years. Now I regularly sell off parts of my collection I don't use often and only buy about $1000 or so a year for the past few years.

There's absolutely nothing stopping anyone here from creating a new forum, except the sacrifice of practicality and convenience. 4chan is often archived by different sites and Discord keeps all its chat logs anyway. One-off resin heads, small run hand-cast figures and accessories, endless discussions of lore and builds and art...all gone. You may not feel this so deeply if you're new to the scene, but it hurts deeply for old collectors who know exactly how much is gone forever.

Secondly, it's not as simple as just "making a forum." They already tried that, it's called The Glyos Connection and it's dead as fuck. When OTF died, everyone scattered to the winds, and there's no reuniting them now. Some peole are on FB, some on Insta, some on Discord, some here, and I'm sure there are others still who either quit or are talking about Glyos in even more obscure corners of the internet. We will likely never be one united family in one place again.

I don't mean to sound all doom and gloom, but this is kinda what it is now. I'm glad we even have here and the Discord, cause things were real bad for a while. I tried valiantly to keep posting on the new forum, but there was little to no engagement.

Hackerman has been lowered to $25k which is pretty cool and will include the slasherman pieces.

Just to be a complete shill, the AfotM is a pretty good deal if you're at all into any of the molds, particularly the newer ones (Jesse's said that the older molds won't be as frequent for a while, not retired, but cycled out for a bit). And you actually can resell them, but the kots fanbase is full of weirdos with more money than sense (and sometimes not much of either). It's already up to 13 figures, so that's like 18.50 per and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up at 14 or even 15 figures by the end, especially if the hacker/slasherman mold gets funded.

It's still a squat, misshapen mess. Vector Jump, Rift Killer, and moreso the Device Ninja and Hyper Knight were all gradually moving to a better direction.
Then there was Cyber Mama. And now this. Both these figures and everything else shown for the new AFOTM are trash. Like another anon said, these look 0 effort. That's true. I definitely wouldn't call it a toxic community. So that's nice. And it is neat being in a dumb little community (also just the glyos community at large, fractured as it is). I like toys. I like supporting small, ethics-minded indy companies. So it's neat to be able to do that and then actually have some small say in the development of the toyline.

I HATE Raddick's sculpt, but there's something really compelling about Hackerman. His super wiggly-looking wrinkly jumpsuit just looks great to me. I think there's also a lot of interesting quirks to his sculpt, like the cyber-wired gloves and the panel on his chest, the super thicc zipper teeth, etc. Plus his masked head looks great.

Raddick has almost none of these assets. He's too bare and smooth and boring, and for a "radical" themed dude, he really doesn't seem radical enough.

The colors aren't very cohesive because this was mostly just intended to shape things out. I don't know which colorways I could even cohesively make it in, considering the hodgepodge of lines the parts come from. Maybe I'll paint it up one day or something.

I grew up with a lot of older SW figures so I'm probably just biased, but I still feel like KOTS doesn't really nail the aesthetic it's going for. Completely understandable. It's all about whatever hits your individual nostalgia trigger. I tentatively like the new figures, personally. They remind of the old TMNT figures (and others along that line), but maybe I won't once they're in hand. But there'll only be a couple of them in AFotM anyway and if I don't like them I can definitely offload them without a problem since people eat up new molds. I'm really here for the middle stuff: desert rat, old knight, RK, device ninja, and hyper knight, even maybe cyber mama, but we'll see with her.

Oh, and Chakan actually. I don't know the character at all, but the mold is dope af. He reminds me of Solomon Kane (who I love).

Yeah, it's really a shame. I don't know how creators haven't caught on yet that a lot of us like to build, and unpainted plastic is really nice for that. They could at least test the waters and order slightly more each time, especially since unpainted blanks sell out like fucking LIGHTNING.

Mikros is the best look for KOTS, no question. It's because the thin silver paint and transparent plastic both hide the flaws in the sculpt. Not to mention how iconic the color scheme is on its own.
