The closest you got to a G1 Starscream aside from Classics was Robot Masters. Anyway, they didn't make another G1-esque Starscream until RiD/TR, unless you count WfC.

There were G1 homages yes, but up until fairly recently, the bots still had horrible nightmare faces inspired by the movies.
