Hasbro is finally pulling through.

Seems the western release is getting painted anime pilots. Japanese release had generic molds.

I don't have my kit nearby, but did they change the cannon? The tip looks different.

Also, holy shit, I bet the kids in Japan will be salty since our version gets the anime characters, and painted to boot.

Tradeoff looks like it may be less accurate Zoids overall, which considering that's what you're buying isn't the ideal. On the Gilraptor and Scorpear there's some parts that were black on the original kits that are that gray color now, The Spideath gets hit by it particularly hard, with the legs being gray now and a bunch of the boddy being lavender instead of black originally. That part of the Spideath also looks like its like a couple of solid parts instead of several like on the original, so it also looks like the kits are probably simplified. The stuff on the Gannontoise looks similar.

I don't even see what was wrong with the Japanese names. What was wrong with Gilraptor or Spideath? Those are very easy to remember and aren't even based in Japanese.

I think anons point is that the names are in english and are a mash up of two english words ( a thing Hasbro does all the time with other toy lines) so not just bringing them over feels like a mistake. The name simplification might even cause problems for the brand standing out.

Hasbro doing dumb changes is a big part of why YW failed in the west, a lot of fans were annoyed with it since JP got the better stuff most stuck to importing.

I really hope Zoids doesn't go down the same way, but it's looking like it may.

They like to make changes to things just for the sake of it, if they can they will. It's really stupid.

Names are trash, they'll be using cheap ass plastic like they do with other toys, the coloring and molds being off make it all worse.

Tomy should've brought Zoids over themselves, hasbro is trash.

Yokai watch was too much of a marketing mishmash to appeal to american children. It was a collectathon RPG but the anime was just violent slapstick. The game was about battling monsters but the anime was mostly cutesy and silly. The anime even featured both versions of theme songs, which was pretty neat but may have put off viewers for either being too cool for something that wasn't, or the just didnt enjoy the funny sounding japanese one. Lastly, a lot of the merch focused on the cute guys rather than something that appeals to TMNT/pokemon fans. in the end, it was just another corporate weeb's desire to import another Pokemania thing, but it never works out as usual

Autistic adults mad they changed some of the toys are not why Yo-Kai Watch failed. Hasbro expected it to be a big deal and kids weren't interested.

Not him, but the issue is Scourge has nothing to do with Optimus Prime. Nemesis Prime fit the "evil Optimus" name convention better. That being said, this might have been a good thing considering the right issues with RID things.
