>>7829423The Toa were pretty basic, but the Bohrok and large models were awesome. Toa Nuva and Bohrok Kal were lazy, but I assume Lego was afraid to invest too much in a new franchise. Rahkshi were a cool change for the time, but also admittedly very basic. As usual, larger sets kept going strong.
Toa Metru were a big improvement, but I don't understand why so many think they were the best Toa designs. Vahki were cool, but very similar to Rahkshi. Hordika went in a weird direction, and I respect that but understand the hate. I would have liked to see more animalistic designs, kept the geared forearms for select Toa and old chest gearing for others. I really loved the Visorak, but would have liked the torso to be more than one giant piece (kept them cheaper though).
I do not like the Inika or Piraka designs very much; way too basic; growing pains, I guess. We're entering action figure territory.
Mistika and Barraki had my favorite aesthetic; can't fit all my praise in this comment. I still miss gearboxes.
Phantoka & Mistika had some neat Toa designs but too much silver. I really liked Pohatu. Phantoka Makuta had a great action feature and interesting builds, but the Mistika Makuta had cooler builds in my opinion.
I disliked Glatorians in their time and didn't buy many, but in retrospect I think they were actually pretty awesome. Stars... well, you know.
I stopped mentioning large sets, but they just kept getting better and better all the way through.
Lorewise G1 was amazing from beginning to end. G2 tripped at the start.
I will say, the G2 gearboxes were really cool and I'd love to see them reused. I also like the mask designs, although they didn't stay on. G2 Color designs were much more interesting, really liked that. Buff Onua was pretty cool desu. CCBS has some advantages, but I don't think it fits Bionicle as the main skeleton system. CCBS should have been auxiliary. I barely remember the villains, so no comment.
