It's a shame that a nice trophy truck got discontinued, a couple years ago. At least it died in a blaze of glory. Mainly, I collect some obscure ones, specifically ones that only had a single run or two, like the Peugeot 206, the Fatbax series, the Four-1, and the car I was looking for since last year, the Wale Tale (pic related). I used to have that car when I was 7 years old, and it looks glorious. Shame that it only lasted once in 2004.

Costco has some pretty okay 1/18 model cars
I picked up an orange Datsun 240Z and it is FANTASTIC for a 15 dollar model.
Its a real shame Nissan is the only japanese brand though, I would also have loved to see some Honda and Toyota
At least they got plenty of classic and modern american muscle thrown into the mix
The 69 Charger is so nice

I remember them having carrera logo on card, still i can't find anything but bigger carrera slot cars or porsche carrera.
As you can see they're really good: nice details, good interiors, rubber wheels (each model had specific oem wheels). Also considering they were even cheaper than HWs (at the time hw costs 1,7€, these were 1,2€)

And one more different one. They are smaller than HotWheels but much more detailed. Rims are separated from alloys, then rubber tyres. Headlights usually are separate too, turning signals painted. Lot of details suchs as racks, side mirrors, antennas...

And the TIE fighter still wins though, but at least it wasn't star wars vs start wars. Carbide almost won though, it did surprisingly well

And now the TIE figther goes against the current grand champion, Käfer racer. Can it beat it and become-well the answer was no, it could not beat the käfer racer, and that took me by surprise since judging by weight I was already prepared for the Käfer to loose, but luckily it did not. I can deal with Deora III being a grand champ, but a star wars car would have jingled my jangles.

So the Käfer still reigns supreme, and I am fine with this

Anyone bought anything from Model Car Group (MCG) before? I want to remove the decals from one of their models (and replace with custom) and want to know how easy they are to remove.

A few years ago they released a stock 80's Caprice, and then have been doing different versions of it over the years, until FINALLY they did the one I was waiting for, California Highway Patrol. So I was hyped and ready to throw my money at them, but then I noticed they just reused the same lightbar from their NYPD model, which is the wrong bar for CHP.

The rear fenders bother me, though. Not saying it shouldn't have them, but if they cut the extensions in half and moved the spoiler up(maybe tilt it up a bit), it would look fantastic.

-do new exclusive castings from premium lines (like pic related for example) do enter in basic line?
-if so, does it happen for every model or do some remain premium only?
-When it happen, usually how much time it takes for a premium to become "normal" (for example the hudson hornet came out in 2012 in boulevard and then it took 4 year to come in mainline)

If they made a version of that Mazda for the main lines it would definitely lose all of its moving parts and wheels. It's all up to Hot Wheels what they decide to do I don't think anyone has gotten a concrete answer about that

There was a Porsche 917K that had basic plastic wheels... once. The Supra on the other hand came back as a premium.

A good example is the Greenwood Corvette which started out as a premium, until the next casting became a mainline from time to time. Another is the then-discontinued Toyota Baja Truck in 2000 which became mainline since 2008.

Anyways, the 100% Hot Wheels is the best way to start for more examples.

This reminds me of what happened to at least 90% of my childhood matchboxes, majorettes and hot wheels

Basically demolition derbies got popular and all the kids "customized" their cars into demolition derby cars with a hammer or a rock and scraped paint off here and there, the goal being that the wheels are supposed to spin at least some and it must stay together instead of parts falling off of it and the metal breaking, it was kinda fun actually and took more thought than randomly smashing it with a rock

Yeah, it's rather big, but I think that if it was a more reasonable and better looking one, the car would loose its uniqueness, the kinda clunky everything just adds to the odd attractiveness it has

Cooltrain, my experiences with majorette are that the basic models are super low quality, the more premium ones are pretty ok, fit and finish is a complete gamble and they are really not good on tracks

They had nice amount of detail considering the size. I think they were more show-off for car collectors than actual toys because headlights or rims often fall off. I used them in my H0 model train, should be somewhere in my locker. Will upload pics soon.

My friend stumbled across a box of boxes of completetly unopened crane cams diecast 50th anniversary 57 bel aire cars.... they are all untouched except for the one shown which was opened for display.

they were at goodwill and were donated that day by the wife of the founder of crane cams....

I know these are EXTREMELY rare.... one article said so rare they could not even be found online.

any idea how much these are worth?

Yeah, he lives down the road, he bought them a few days ago while on vacation in florida, hes headed back today though.

I believe they are about 3" long, so I guess that would be 1/64?

I think he got one that was opened, pictures, and 4 that had never been unboxed or even removed from a case of boxes.

Just looking at the design, I bet this would be a really strong competitor on Hot Wheels tracks.
High suspension which allows it to seamlessly pass all these loops and shits. It could be also very heavy with a lot of momentum.
