>>7835209>bought a used gp7 classics edition ho scale train by atlas, was wondering which decoder to use and if it's a plug and play type of deal or will i have to solder it. also which type of decoder, some decoders say nscale but somehow works with ho scale?N scale and HO scale operate on near the same voltage. Crazy, yeah? That's why some modelers will, by default, use N-scale decoders in smaller locos like diesel switchers. There's sometimes no choice due to space limitations.
>>7836939>yea i just got it and it has a dummy plug according to the schematic, have not opened it up yet. now time to find out which decoder to get. some of them are extremely expensive. Here's where I need to know your market. Some Eurobro already covered options there, in the US the mainstay basic decoders are Digitrax, followed by NCE. Digitrax are far easier to find and competitively priced in most cases. 9/10 times a Digitrax DH126 decoder will do. You, specifically, are looking for a DH126P to intergrate with your loco. Otherwise get a DH166P if you think you will add some extra lights, such as an amber beacon on the cab roof.
>>7837775>lokpilot basic was the best option but they are damm hard to find, only expensive ones at the shops. So is that the absolute state of the Euro market right now? Even after Digitrax was slammed by a hurricane, their decoders still saturate the US market.
