More likely it's because ML covers a larger variety of Marvel characters than any of their local brands tend to. There are Japanese fans of western comics, and they're not going to see a Figuarts Captain Canada or Mafex Blackbolt any time soon, since they don't have any presence in the movies.

Might not the best example but fucking Undertale was huge over there when it came out. It was nowhere the crazy ass shit back here when it was at it's peak, but it still became a pretty big succes over there too.
Japan even has furries an MLP fans that act basically the same as western one too.

There's a lot of active communities for western figures over there.

You have to remember that Japan is basically like the US, in that they have a pretty large toy market and western companies can fairly price the figures there.
So western toys are pretty much as cheap as they are in the US and Japanese toys also cost 2-3x more than western toys, just like in the US.

I used to follow a few Japanese bloggers/reviewers, until they went to the shitter just like US reviewers who went to doing only mumbling boring blurry videos.

see pic on how much money TRU was making and how much they made after paying off just the fucking interest from that debt.

The US market itself is probably about as large as everyone else's put together. Not sure how true this is anymore, but given that no toy company has gone out of business since TRU's collapse, it's probably still true today.

Doesn't matter.
He was saying that the US market somehow isn't as large as it is solely because of Star Wars, yet Hasbro has the master license for the property, meaning they're producing 230948234x more Star Wars products than everyone else.
If any other company is hit by the SW property declining, their share of the market is like 2% probably combined (would afffect worldwide sales, btw).
And i certainly haven't heard any toy company going out of business that makes STar wars products and they'll be nothing but a near insignificant blip on the market share.

Also, MAttel has problems, but they're not as hard hit as you think based on actual sales. Mismanaged company.
