I've recently reclaimed my large bin of bionicle parts from my parents home and they were both heavy smokers, do you guys have any suggestions for how to clean parts? I mean it's at least 8 lbs of unsorted parts so I am not sure what would be an efficient and effective way to do it.

Demi’s art has degraded along with her personality. It’s so organic and blobby now. Yeah her creature designs are neat but she’d rather draw androgynous warframes than play to her strengths.
Seeing someone so skilled draw so awfully is worse than someone who’s simply bad at drawing because she knows how to draw, she’s talented as fuck. But she’s wasting her skills drawing weird fetish shit and that’s a damn shame.

You SOL when it comes to that long 2x7 double connector. Those things are just fragile as fuck as a general rule. Even the Visorak ones. You have to do the “pinch the sides and cram hard” technique on all of those and even then, it only works part of the time

Those joints are supposed to be sturdier because the other color is rubber, kinda like the friction extenders of CCBS, issue is the rubber seems to break in pretty easily so the joints become pretty loose with age.

My 05-07 sockets are all fine outside of Hakann and lime (which I replaced with parts recieved from Lego and 2005 parts respectively) and have had no problems since.
All my 08 sockets broke the first time I disassembled them and I ordered a bunch of replacements from Lego and they broke too (ordered more and now never touching them again), 08 (and 09 and 10 but I skipped those years) had the new socket redesign combined with Lego in general being more brittle (non bionicle parts also broke constantly) during that period. 07s lime joints were a flawed batch with micro bubbles destroying structural integrity.
So it's not like 06-07 were perfect (as my hakann shows), but lime and 08+ sockets have a bad reputation for a reason.

Might be transparent ones and mata red ones with issues, I use the black ones all the time without issue.
It's the extra long double sockets specially that suffer i feel. The other types never had issue besides lime in 07 and every single 08+ socket. Used to have a theory that the little gaps in the axle part of the other socket types might have helped the socket flex open slightly and prevent these issues but I don't think that has weight (also think the little slits made the pieces look nicer too, never liked the completely clean smooth look of newer stickers).

Hmmm... Never Had an issue with my Matoro Mahri, though every Cordak blaster I own has had either the top or bottom connection points snap off.
Lego QC really was going downhill back then, but 08-10 and 07 lime are particularly egregious offenders

What’s weird is I was able to put together the Mahri and Inika versions of Jaller the way I did when I was kid (carefully inserting in the socket) and it didn’t break even once. Matoro and Takadox though, try that once and it snaps. Have to pinch and cram those fuckers and hope that it works.

It has good changes considering the interest shown by the designers to the project and how absurdly fast it reached it's goal, but good doesn't mean it's sure since they have to convince the people at the top.

Bionicle is more than a buildable action figure, and it is allowed to take forms other than that.
I love Constraction too, but if literally all you care about in regards to Bionicle specifically is the merchandise, then you're not a fan of Bionicle as a whole, you're a fan of the building system and character designs.

If they went out of their way to make the structures and environments unique like in G1 if not moreso, then i'd say it could be very appealing.
Also Rahi. Tons of Rahi, and Exo-Toa/Boxors, and vehicles like 08/09 that fit in with the aesthetic, and giant monsters/villains in general.

I wish I had gotten into Lego back then; Adventurers, Alpha team, and the many different outer space themes were creative as hell. Technic Competition desperately needs to be revived too. My personal favorite themes that I was around for were Power Miners, Aqua Raiders, Atlantis, Alien Conquest, and Monster Fighters. I could never get into Ninjago sadly, but I thought it was cute back when it first came out.
There's so many Lego themes lost to time, that when I think back on it, it almost makes me feel lucky that Bionicle lasted and got so much development as it did.

Tohunga. They're more classic and look better and I'm an enti-heresyfag who doesn't want to paint his parts lime green / medium blue / etc. It's especially frustrating because with the bohrok va you can make so many tohunga but important ones like Tamaru and MNOG Kopeke are impossible.

It's amazing to me how some people are so good at making MoCs. I've made a couple myself but they're never even close to as nice as these. I don't have all that many spare parts (I tend to keep the main sets together) but I don't think that's what's limiting me. For all of you who are so good at them, was it practice? Trial and error? Most moc-makers' main strength is being able to memorize basically every piece they have and knowing all its connection points and options for "pathing" around it (what I mean by that is how easily and structurally sound it is to place it in an integral position in a moc, especially if it wasn't intended to be there.)

A trap a lot of moccers fall into is finding something that looks good but is easy and just using that to build "gorgeous mocs" that are really boring. See >>7836082 as an example.

I moced for a good while when I was younger, I'd say my mocs were better than average (hell, despite the fact I am "that guy" I made a nuvaboob moc with a near flat chest), not outstanding perhaps tho. Ganto came up with a new head piece that goes on top of a transparent minifig head, but they also made up this transparent helmet that attaches to the head via a stud, instead of the older biker helmet style. Also they want to make the masks printed onto it "to save lego money," but nobody really likes that idea.

But i'd also prefer her not having hands. I'd been tricky about it but each of my drawing crops before her hands/hooks are even shown for the very purpose that I'm not sure which way I prefer it nor how others do. But that particular model would look better without hands for sure.
I also don't think Lego is ever going to make these, I'd love to see it but it's not going to happen. So thinking about cutting imaginary costs is a bit dum

On a more serious note, the ideal would be to make molds only as necessary for the theme. Which in my mind are less specialized mixel joints that we're missing (though with ample connection points for further modification) a more generic gearbox (again, with connection points to put stuff on it to make it more unique between characters) and masks. Masks should be an important part of a new Bionicle story and franchise, even more so if the figures are smaller. Mask collecting should be a prominent part of the story and the marketing, and few things encourage such a thing more than preference for shape or color of mask.

As far as I know there isn't much to tell yet but the set numbers start close to where G2 ended and it's dated for release on the second half of 2020. On top of that the amount of sets and their pricing are very similar to that of G2.

Well the diorama has been shilled hard by some parts of the fan base, other submissions were mostly ignored. Even some official designers have praised it, which drew even more attention. Most of its supporters also think it's got the best chance to get picked up by Lego out of all the submissions so far. Hence why it reached the goal so fast.

I am really glad the diorama got made because it's both a nice set and a little capsule of what the story of G1 was.
But if after this you are giving the same lecture for complaining about that other idea then I'll kindly tell you to fuck off as well. Because for starters, one thing is to adapt Bionicle to a playset and another is just that cheap attempt at being the "revolutionary" System G3 with an.

Yeah, GrumbleBricks' playset is a fuckin mess. However the reason he's getting so many votes is because is set is getting strongly shilled too, and most fans have given up hope of Lego making good Constraction sets anyway. It's sad but it is what it is.
I voted for the GSR, hopefully people will start pushing that one more too as it gets updates (the creator said he would make a built version of the head for example).

If you’re going for a Kal, I’d definitely shoot for Lehvak-Kal. He’s one of the most visually interesting Kals and in my opinion has one of the cooler weapons.
Tahnok-Kal has the best krana color of the Kals hands down
As for regular bohrok, maybe a Gahlok? Their krana color and body always looked appealing
Or you could embrace the madness and get multiple of the same Bohrok type. If you’re a guy who likes taking photos of his sets even something like two Tahnoks can look really cool when they’re flanking Tahu, etc.

Even ignoring the argument that worrying about cost for a fucking imaginary line of toys is pretty dumb, that definitely just doesn't sound convincing at all. They do (or did, particularly in constraction lines, though you do see more unique character parts in system sets too) make a ton of largely single-use heads/masks. These would have far more reuse potential, so they'd be worth the cost (again pretending as if that's relevant)
And realistically, even if Lego wasn't willing to do 12 masks for a year, I feel like they'd be more likely to just drop the noble masks and just use the six great ones for everything over just going with that weird bubble helmet printing idea.

OK good news, they went back to using the molded masks after a long debate. This is pretty much just the existing Akaku model tbf but honestly it doesnt really need any sacrificing in regards to the shape to fit anyway, so whatever.

Also because i didnt mention before, they're posting these concepts on litestone's official discord (which is where ive been getting these from), in case anyone was curious.

So the animation rigs is looking pretty good, at least for Tahu, Onua and Gali, Pohatu should be quite easy but Lewa and especially Kopaka are a bit of a headache to get their tiny left arm right.

Would the cripple-armed Toa need have to have elbows? Even Ghost had trouble articulating them in their renders. You can see they had to slightly touch up the piece's design for their Rahkshi clips to give them a working elbow bend. Kopaka might already have enough range with his shield thanks to his ball jointed hand and you can just use perspective tricks to make his poses work better.
As for Lewa, just don't do what Ghost did here.

I really prefer studio to LDD as the former is actually usable. It's a shame more bionicle-related pieces aren't on either, but then I'd sooner make it that much harder for people to submit their horrible mocs to lego ideas.

Toa should have been Protector sized and the Protectors could have been even smaller with mixel joints
