We get them in 2020 sets. A orange and red ghost will be in the Inside the Hidden Side set, it will also include a "ghost" blue Jack and Parker.

Well and with the set ghost fair, also holds the quite new roller coaster rail system at Hidden Side feeder. Where fair is a bit over the top, because it is a ride with accessories. Part of a ghost train, which consists of three red rails. In addition, the visitor of the train is greeted by a ghost clown who denounces high above the track. Fittingly, the set includes Jake, Parker and JB (a sensational scientist), three fantastic fairground employees.

4-wides are ok if they only seat 1, but every 6-wide should be able to firmly seat at least two minifigs side-by-side without removing arms.

Needing conflict =/= making everything explicitly about war.
Classic Space had tons of opposing factions, with Blacktron being the largest "bad" one, but the conflict was never the themes focus; it was more about how the different factions survived and adapted in their different environments and what roles they served in the greater scheme. More than anything, survival was the conflict - at least it felt like to me.
Meanwhile fast-forward to modern themes like Mars Mission, Galaxy Squad, Space Police III, and even the sillier Alien Conquest, and every single set is explicitly a war machine. The people aren't settlers who happen to have conflicts, they're basically just soldiers.
There is a big difference between having an engaging conflict, and sucking out any subtlety other than the conflict.

LEGO has realized they can't have nonconflict factions or things without their own story anymore. Or it needs to be recognizable from something else. Just look at how many people clamor for Star Wars or how Classic Space only got new sets in the context of the Lego Movie (ignoring Star Wars butting in on fictional Space themes). Police sets likely make up half of City sets. Even now you're bitching about a story you're given/suggested instead of thinking of your own story for the sets. There's probably enough pieces in the set you posted to build a little outpost instead of a ship. (You) are a prime example of the type of customer LEGO has had to accommodate, even as you bitch that it isn't what you want.

Isn't City Space what you want after all? Or that City Ice Exploration theme that didn't do so well? Assuming you're dissatisfied with the scope of Friends sets. Where are the leaks for the next installment of those? We only have this lego employee shilling Hidden Side too hard.

The end result of what (You) want means conflict shifts from a common enemy, to personal drama within the crew/characters. And none of the nonsense you're talking about appeals to boys.

Most all of the old space sets the people were supposed to be civilians. The only real "Bad guys" were like, Blacktron and Spyrius. Almost all of the other ones were like, miners (Ice Planet) or archaeologists (Explorians) then you had the obvious Space Police, and I think even Unitron was supposed to be police of some sort.

It wasn't really until probably after Star Wars was introduced that LEGO seemed to put good guys and bad guys into sets in the space lines.

But to be honest though, I'm not totally sure why that matters, since Castle always had multiple factions of knights and stuff, and you even had good guys and bad guys in a wave, and pirates always had, well, Pirates, and like imperial soldiers for them to fight, even way back in the 80s and 90s when Space wasn't really doing that.

I was just using Space as an example my nigga. I love and support anything original that lego puts out as long as it had a passion behind it. I love Hidden Side today, but I also loved Aqua Raiders, Atlantis, Power Miners, Monster Fighters, and even Alien Conquest for the cheesy atmosphere alone, which gave it just that bit of charm to win me over. Ninjago isn't my thing but I respect it a lot.
No, I am not personally interested in City or Friends, however that is a matter of my personal taste since they are so deeply rooted in real life, and nothing particularly fantastical.
I want original themes with more than ten seconds of thought put into them. Here I thought that WASN'T a controversial opinion, fuck me.

I tend to make stuff that seats minifigs, so mostly I just use bike frames as the seating base and stack a bunch of shit around it

Completely devoid of conflict! Which is why I don't understand the need for conflict to be the specific flavor of conflict you're demanding. Maybe not /toy/ but I just watched the Lego 2 movie a couple days ago, it was really good. Like the first movie had nice visuals but the second one had really fun songs and some clever humor that even adults can enjoy. Did you guys enjoy the first or second one more?

help with stickers and give them to them when they aren't super young anymore
teach them early not to use their teeth! build together with them to give the right example and help when pieces get stuck

back in my day we didn't have super duper rare pieces, but maybe give them cool but not 50 dollar one of a kind figures until they are older.
Make sure you help them stay organized. My parents tried this but failed horribly though.
So maybe just learn them to store printed pieces seperately to protect them from scratching off.

This was the problem when I was young. My younger sibling used to bite all my toys, leaving bitemarks mostly on all my classic smiley faces and Johnny Thunder. I even screw that, because I tried to fix his face with black marker. And on the other hand, I also damaged a lot of figs because I was switching their hands, arms and legs too often.

Have a son that's almost 2,5 years old. He's got duplo for himself which he likes, mostly duplo animals

Also really likes regular minifigs and animals, he's been playing with a spider-man minifig and a lego dog alot. Frankly I don't give a shit if he breaks/loses/bites something because I just hope he's enjoying himself and developing his imagination/motorskills. I think he looks younger because of the chin and the whites in his eyes. The simpler face he used to have was more subtle and made him feel more mature, but ultimately, I don't mind this version. Same desu. The Marvel movie and Star Wars minifigs look way too busy, like it's pretty much always a printing overkill. Most of the comic versions are fine, a few still suffer every now and then.
What really bugs me are the molds for newer Star Wars minifigs helmets and heads. It just looks like a 6 inch action figure head shrunk down onto a Lego body. It doesn't match the aesthetic at all.
I pretty much gave up on licenseshit a few years ago. Last set I got was the Spider Man bridge, it was comfy and a good stopping point for me.

I still get the Star Wars sets I actually want. I missed out on a lot of them as a child because, hey, we were poor. So I've been sort of growing my fleet. Yes, hurr durr, they get displayed on shelves, but I take them down to play with, as I work from home taking phone calls, and shit gets boring.

I will say, a lot of the figures are shit. I'm not massively into them, but I know which ones I like, and don't like. I will certainly agree that some characters are simply far too busy looking. My personal peeve is when they essentially try to print on long coats? It just doesn't look good. Leg prints are night, and later rebel pilots are good looking, but they could have stayed with the ones from about 2010 and been just fine. I especially dislike the newer rebel pilot helmets. They look good with the dual moulding, but they're too bulky as a result. It doesn't match with the figs at all.

On the flipside of that same coin, Rey's face is just like her performance, lacking in real character, and detail.

Cars, lego, trains (including electric, steam powered, and full sized), music, gaming (Extensive classic console collection), general restoration and the sea.

It's a bit of a pain, I have to admit. But it means I'm very seldom truly bored. I come an go from here a lot. I'm the space base/story anon, but I also mix my interests up a bit. I also did some of those replica British trains in LDD, mainly because I want to actually make them in Lego.

There's nothing wrong with flip flopping, it means you don't get burned out as easily, and you're still having fun!

Yeah, I do it all the time. Just rotate the arm so it's 90 degrees relative to the body and snap it right off. You're better off doing it quick and painless to avoid damage.

Anyway, back from making crinkly noises at the display. Shower cap wasn't really a strong indication aside from ruling out others for having too much texture. Found bath dude by the brush bristles mostly.
Other part of confirming was a certain part of the bag did not slide against itself as easily as others. Which was the towel, separate from the naked man and his accessories, which were all in a bag within the bag. And that inner bag makes a different crinkling sound compared to the package. Stand was separate too.

The cowl and the cape are just a plastic mold now? Sure, it's good for display. I would even go so far as to say that it is in fact "perfect", but I really hope that doesn't become the standard. The soft capes (the new ones) are basically flawless.

Eh, might use some heretical none-lego track then. I don't have the benefit of decent switched and stuff, but my track is meant for outdoor, and all my O gauge (It's SM32 really) is live steam. Rock Raiders was the first juniorized theme. The only thing that was good about it was the turquoise which we’re getting a shitton more parts in this year. It is weird how they introduced the color for one scifi theme and never used it again for a decade.

Such pieces mainly exist to prevent the bottom 'plate' from popping off compared to if it was made normally, since these tend to be for the underside of vehicles. That one is particularly massive though.

I sadly don't really care for it. For an original theme it doesn't do much for me, the sets feel like modded city ones (which is cool, I just don't care about modern city life when it comes to Lego).
And as far as pieces go it's incredibly disappointing. The minifigs are good, but there's no other new molds or even many interesting new recolours. If you compare the number of new parts to each Nexo Knights wave it becomes really noticeable. I suspect the budget for the AR stuff must have meant the designers couldn't put in many new molds.

I've dabbled in van-shaped vehicles, but I've yet to make a proper one.
I've got a few ideas for some, especially one that can carry a few bikes in the back, and a modern rendition of set 1791, but right now they're still just vague ideas.

The prick-a-brick wall has some great new pieces in for anyone interested. The friends flower pieces feel and look like Playmobil though, I wouldn't recognise them as Lego if it weren't for the fact they were there.

I got a total of 940 pieces for £11.24, so it works out as just over 1p per piece. Bretty gud if I say so myself.
