I got this pile of parts in the mail today. It was listed as containing both Mushi and Callgrim parts. From the multiple pics the seller posted it was clear that many of the parts were from the same figure (obviously apparent from the bluesteel parts) but I like surprises and bought it anyway. Care to take a guess as to what they all added up to? I'll post a spoiler pic below.

Hmm, I can't spoiler for some reason. Oh well. Here's what it all amount to, minus some spare parts like traveler scarves and a few sincroid heads. The stuff on the left are complete, the bottom are missing a gun or two each and the mushi are missing their back parts and misc. I'm not mad by any means about my purchase and am going to use the parts to customize lots of things, but I am annoyed that everything was mostly disassembled to make the pile look more "random" and desirable for purchase.

What a GIGANTIC waste of mold slots. I don't know who thought throwing SIX different fucking food heads into one figure was a good idea, but they should be ashamed. I don't even buy that mold because I just end up with so much shit I'll never use. Also, the waist on the wrestler looks bad and has an awful "shelf" to it too.

Like maybe two food heads in a mold max. Just burger and fries first and then some other cool heads that could actually make sense with the barbarian kind of figures.

Battle Tribes was pretty great when they first started and I wish nothing but the best for Spymonkey but they've made some decisions that definitely curbed my interest. As mentioned, the food heads are kind of lame and the wrestling figure on whole kind of seems like a loss of focus on what BT started as. Throw in the excessive homages that cost more than you'd spend for the original version at a flea market along with the unfortunate lack of lower cost blanks to play around with and you've got a line that ignores the open-ended play and building options that make Glyos something I enjoy. I get that they have their niche and I get a kick out of seeing what they do but not enough of one for me to purchase the product.

Every glyos company seems so fucking stingy with blanks even though they're always the first to sell out. (Admittedly because they only have a small number of them, but people clamor for them.) Do you know how many blank orc-green and black BT figures I would have bought if they kept them in stock? A lot. Like, a shit ton.

This would have some legitimacy if there weren't a ton of WoM just sitting in the store, in great building colors, going nowhere.

The Granite Wave Bundle is a ridiculously good deal. Three whole WoM figures and a Close Combat Armory for $24 in neutral grey with black accents.

This bundle is HALF A DECADE OLD. Here is a post by SpyMonkey from April 2016 trying to sell how good the $24 deal was THEN, as they tried to get rid of WoM stock with Battle Tribes moving into full swing: http://www.glyosconnect.org/viewtopic.php?t=59&p=5323

The argument that WoM is some lost gem with unmatched demand falls apart incredibly. Holy shit, what a great batch of parts. Parts that do things other Glyos parts don't. Rivets to fill ugly female ports on your figure's surface. Little skulls to do the same. Spikes, connectors, boxes, bars, blades, handles, rods. I can't believe how cool the parts are.

Why doesn't Matt ever go back to hit colorways these days? I'm not talking about straight reissues of popular figures, but about expanding on colorways that could be big for building. We don't have those ZED/ZRU or Volkriun waves anymore, where every mold is released in one cohesive colorway for maximum potential.

Go back to Enigma and give us a Buildman, Phaseon, Gobon, and Villser, along with some more building parts with paint apps or tampos to keep them unique if need be. Go back to STS and give us more Robo Force molds to make mobile suits out of, bring in a Rig too.

Just give us more than one drop's worth of the nice colorways. Don't just make two figures and some parts and call it a day.

I'll be the one to say it. There are too many Glyos companies and stores now, and the audience was never going to be able to support all of them forever. It's a question of when not if, and some of them are going to have to fail. Geodraxus was really promising with great momentum but now there are two figures still in stock a month+ after release. Now we have Mechazone coming into the game too, Cappy Space with extra drops, maybe others.

The only ones immune to this right now I think are Onell (for obvious reasons), Godbeast (pure Marty sexual energy made more powerful by back stock), Toyfinity (solid Matt-sculpted, in demand figures and Kent funding), and Toy Pizza (practically separate audience).

Onell, and Glyos as a whole, would be healthier if 50% of these Glyos producers dropped out.

It's going BACK TO that's the problem. It just doesn't work if you release four figures, then six months later you return to that color with a few more figures. They have to all be released together in a concerted drop, because you CAN'T buy in and go back in time to fill your figures out if you didn't predict the future and know there'd be more figures. You can't plan, you can't buy around builds.

I'm glad you mentioned STS, because it's a perfect example. We had a neutral grey, the perfect machine builder, and a great green contrast color for troops. We should have gotten every sculpt in one of those two colors. But now there's the problem of no more color swapping, instead contrast is made with paint. Let's take OG Task Force Volkriun, arguably the best army building wave, as an example. Technically every figure was made in two PVC colors (Pappysoup green and Commando green) then parts were swapped to make color-coordinated but opposite figures that all looked uniform. You could color swap STS green and STS grey, I guess, and release them for all sculpts. Otherwise, what do you do? Run all figures in the grey with a couple green, run all figures in green with a couple grey, or literally have a grey and a green version of every figure?

But even the new Volkriun wasn't OG Volkriun. We're never going to get big building waves again.

Battle Tribes and Spy Monkey are just fine.

SMC will be at Dcon offering some super low stock figures currently missing from the store. Most of these are previously held back stock for replacements or missed in the inventory count. Handfuls each not worth re-listing. Some deals will be offered as they have been at previous Dcons. This is mostly older stock, but Dcon and deals are a regular thing. Black Friday will likely repeat the deals.

A new Battle Tribes drop is coming in 2020 so get ready for a new year of figures starting in Jan/Feb. Wor may show off a prototype of a female warrior, it's still unclear how close it is to production.

You may not like the food heads, but it wasn't for you. The food heads were to appeal to a new audience. Some don't like the wrestlers in general. Well it's not like they took over the line, is it? Nonsense. The heads suck except for the weird pancake one and don't really go with anything. But the body has great parts for building up bigger figures. Zullen sells well when it matches popular colorways from Onell.

I wish the Zullen bodies had more articulation and built a little better with Axis/Swing for that purpose,but they're not too bad.

I actually like that people are willing to point out things that they don't like or would change about certain figures or lines. Facebook and Instagram are great for seeing builds that people have done and communicating with the creators but this seems to be the only place people are willing to admit when something didn't hit the mark for them. That arm could be improved in so many ways. Add a slight elbow bend, move it inwards a little so it's not awkwardly sticking out. Bend the fingers a little bit so it's a convincing neutral position, even bend the whole hand in a tiny bit while you're at it to make it look more natural. Pheyden looks so nice, but I can never quite overlook that arm.

The face sculpt looks a lot better than I expected, without paint apps it looks like Greek sculpture. That the chainmail doesn't cover her neck can be looked past when considering the neck has to work with the other head. If the torso were proportionate, even with the solid arms (better solid than tearing like Rift Killers) this would be a pretty cool figure. If a stone-type colorway is made available to the general non-patreon/non-AFotM club public I could see picking a few up.

Close Combat Armory is fucking absurd, I kick myself every day for not realizing how cool it was until it was gone. The shapes and part types are so unlike anything else in Glyos right now. In that moment, he realized he had failed, though not in his assignment to scour the barren desert. In that, he had succeeded beyond anyone else, at least in Zerennic's heavy eyes. No, he had instead failed in his duty as a Traveler, his duty to protect the Glyos System's obscurities and enigmas from those who wish only to abuse them. Leaving only his Glyarmor and Phase Arm to prove he ever existed, Awken faded away. Though he was no longer present in that world, the legacy of his discovery would echo through the Glyos system forever.

Of course there will, are you kidding me? Almost all the big Glyos producers will be there. Matt, Marty, Mori, Kent, Cappy, Jesse, etc. etc. It's real cool to meet all of them, you should definitely go if you're in the area. Last year I went and was able to snag some stuff that was sold out online (like Game Boy Pheyden), some early releases from the next drop, and had a nice chat with some of them.

Are these Argen heads from dcon or something, or just freebies in the mail? Matt has been including old stock from months, years ago in the packages for the last couple drops. I've seen yellow axis, red phase arms, and smoke grey axis for me and others. I don't know enough to know if Argen's ever been run in those colors before though.

Well it IS in the stealth dimension after all. I've been going back over Matt's old posts to see the things he made in vinyl, trying to make my own, but I'd found that he did way more customization to those parts to make them fit than you'd think by the pics alone. No way I'd be willing to risk limited and precious materials like that nowadays. I mean, aside from the Flatwalker, but that only had one "dangerous cut" for the body section.

This is my favorite official vinyl build, surprised it hasn't been posted yet. Still can't figure out how Matt got the wedge to support all the limbs in the bottom of the core torso part. It's really hard to see because it's super-ultra-stealth.

If I liked the style KOTS of figures, I'd love that they exist. As it stands now I just wish they were better for building, like if you could swap out shoulder and hip joints easily to make something posable but keep the majority of the sculpt.

In Persian countries, there is a tradition known as "tarof", where you are expected to offer some hospitality to someone else and they are supposed to refuse it. Anyway, Glyos is kind of like that. We all love Glyos, but we have to act like we hate Glyos when we talk about it. Truth is, we're all crazy about those guys. It's a simple oddity in Glyo-culture that causes us to lean towards the brash and the apocalyptic when it comes to our hobby.
