Bluefin's price model 2011-2015 or so was basically equal exchange rate, even for web exclusives, at the time an item was solicited, so MSRP was the same in either country at the time the figure was solicited (meaning if exchange rate was 100:1, a 4000 figure would be $40). Now, when the value went one way or the other at the time of release, you were either really smart to PO through Bluefin, like for the SRC Megazord costing more to import at MSRP then get through Bluefin, or smart to import with Godzilla 2014 costing less at Japanese MSRP than Blueifn MSRP (US was $68, I got mine for ~$53 shipped EMS). Back then, if you paid for RSAL, you'd usually equal out to roughly Bluefin's MSRP and wait time. EMS was like a $20 early convenience fee in only some cases.
Now? Isn't always the case on being able to predict what Bluefin will charge; they stopped doing direct conversion rates at the time the item was solicited, and sometimes they force retailers to buy other things to go along with the main item they're buying (ie Hercule and MUI Goku? Bluefin forced retailers to buy more aura effects). Additionally, predicted release schedule in the US isn't as consistent as it was years ago when you could assume last week of the following month of release (March release would be in the US at the end of April).
For importing... even one item, it's usually fine. I paid $58 for the new Bulma shipped EMS. Bluefin MSRP? $55. Not a real price difference.
