Bionicle was too original and bold for Lego. They had no idea what to do with it after Faber left.

If they wanted to make stupid money, all they'd need to do is open a puppet company and run all their less kid-friendly product through there. Bionicle for one nearly DEMANDS more flexibility in content than the 4-10 market will allow for, and it's laughable that they tried to make it a Transformers knockoff to pander to babies when the only thing that got it off the ground in the beginning was how dismal and darksouls-esque the original stories felt.
