Ive got a big collection of the gorgeous green stuff and just now wabt to start breaking it up.

I saw a build once pairing it with a sage/metallic, but im sure that would be hard to find much of.

The fees are because Matt's been fucked over in the past. International shippers buy a large order from him, receive it, claim they didn't and then get a refund and keep everything. A few here and there is to be expected what with the volume of mail that gets lost annually, but for a small company it really hurts and adds up fast.

Glyos could cut their costs in half if they stopped championing ethical practices in China or wherever the fuck their factory is. Move it to India or some other place where labor can still be exploited for cheap. It would require some growing pains and change but could probably handle 2012 level production for nearly 2012 prices.

Not specifically related to this, but I just wish some companies would announce their shit earlier than the day of the drop. Being there at the moment the product drops is standard practice and you're a dumbass if you show up late and whine, but it's disappointing and frustrating to be blindsided by a drop when you're waiting on a paycheck or just bought something else. I'm glad Onell announces around a week in advance so I have time to prepare.

This is just reality. There's certain companies that have maintained cheap products, there's certain companies that have jumped ship from China to cut costs. American production is not a terrible concept because shipping would be drastically reduced, but regulations and labor on any significant operation would probably outweigh the (admittedly fantastic) benefits.

I met a guy recently working out of a wearhouse who was shopping around his injection molding services and possibilities, with fairly competitive prices. It seemed like a one or two man operation with potential.

But India is probably the real winner when it comes to cost savings, I'm sure there's a handful of other countries that would fill the same role.

All of these were around retail, his prices tend to be only okay (I think halkenn was like $30 before the discount, for example) but if you pay close attention every now and then he puts random items on 50% off sales that make them go from okay to retail/a good deal.

Glyos has an identity problem between being a collector's line and a builder's line, specifically where blanks are involved. Blanks are artificially scarce despite consumers buying out the limited stock within minutes every time, and producers refuse to rerun any figures due to collectors' fear of their figures losing aftermarket value. Producers clearly aren't interested in rerunning older colorways, and I can't necessarily blame them, it's much more tempting to create new things than double down on old things. However, builders get shafted by this decision, as it's nearly impossible to acquire building parts or figures in older colorways. Want to give some Swing Joints to that Outpost Odesskar Glyan you bought standalone a few years ago? Tough shit.

I've been doing my best to grab as much Volkriun as I can the past two years since I found Glyos, and I've been lucky since it goes up a lot. I'm really excited to build big with it like the classic builds on the blog, but I also like the idea of having one of each figure released in it.

But like, in that entire time, I've never seen a Gobon go up or a Core Block or a Crayboth in these colors. I've been extremely lucky to have some hubs because there were so many deep space Glyans, and just a couple axis and phase, though more would be better.

But another problem with sticking to one color is you'll never have everything. There were never swing joints in these colors, but more importantly no Armorvor and obviously not the Robo Force sculpts which would be huge for mechs. I do really like what Cappy brings to the table with bringing new sculpts to old colors, something the mainline storefronts really don't do. He's already done Nu-Volkriun, wonder if he'd ever go Pappysoup.

I've been trying to explore mixing colors but I'm not about to invest in a second old school detail lined colorway, and you really can't mix parts between eras with few exceptions.

Does Cappy have access to any Onell figures besides Crayboth? I would assume he does not, judging by what he's released so far. Getting Armorvor in Volkriun colors (old or new) would be a dream. But maybe we get that eventually, after all we got TFV Villser way after the fact.

Vinyl is over. Matt has kicked around the possibility of a swan song vinyl wave, if you ever see another bit of it that will be the last of it. Callgrim and Banimon are done. TGB is done with it, too expensive and his last one still hasn't sold out. The only option left is Galaxxor and you may see a zull beast once every year or two. I suppose you could always try to convince Cappy to try and run some, or perhaps Maxepadd or Rez in a similar fashion.

The three roboforce molds are the vinyl replacement, for chunky and vehicle builds.

Speaking of mixing colors, the no paint era gets a lot of flak, but it gives huge flexibility for mixing colorways. This example is a metallic green Pheyden and the purple/green Skeleden mixed together and they look so good. You can't do this with modern colorways because the shoulders are almost always painted in an accent color or the other main color, which ruins it.

I know you can do the same with the detail lined colorways, and most of them came that way originally, but this doesn't really seem to be appreciated for the no paints.

If it's acrylic paint someone else put on it, soak them in the most powerful ethanol you can get your hands on and shake them around, then use a toothpick to pick it out of the cracks and crevices.

If you want to remove factory paint, it's pretty much considered impossible and there definitely aren't any solvents that would work, although I'm not sure if anyone has tried sandpaper. You can also leave them in your pocket with keys or look at them the wrong way or build anything with them, but that will just make unattractive marks and scratch up tampos, really.

My Vekurrek's gray head paint is slowly but surely scraping off in a small section, and I was surprised to see that there's a layer of dark red paint underneath, matching an area on the lower part of the head. I guess the parts are sometimes dipped in paint instead of separately masked.

I've always had some degree of self-esteem issues, probably tracing back to my childhood and adolescence. I was a difficult child, and spent most of my early life jumping between social circles and hobbies because I would always awkwardly fuck up and either drive everyone else away or just leave on my own because I didn't feel like I could live down some random stupid thing I said weeks prior. I still have a handful of consistent friends despite this, though, and I can't put into words how thankful I am for that. I've tried to grow and change for the better throughout the years, and though I can't judge my own character, I like to think I've improved from who I was. Even to this day, though, I remain doubtful of myself. But that means the moments of affirmation and affection from my friends have a much deeper and more profound effect on me. I can't help but feel a strong whirlwind of emotions, from joy to wistful sadness, whenever I'm reminded that people close to me value my presence.

Anyways, Glyos is kind of like that. When I'm feeling bad, sometimes I go get my bin of old figures and pull out some random PVC guy I've seen many times, but never truly appreciated. It'll captivate me, and I'll give it a special place on my desk for a while. Right now, that's the Neo Nebula Pheyden.

So were there any official "builds" using the extra heads that sometimes came with the Outlander? I know the Styre (looked like Govurom) was just a basic head swap, and the Leyden (sleek cone mask) used the ankle extenders to make it taller, but I've yet to see any pics of the female head/masks being used or the elongated buttplug alien one. Wtf were those even called? Did any build use the chest piece upside down?

I would maybe try Mr. Paint Remover by Mr. Hobby, that stuff is pretty powerful. Test on a piece you don't care about though, and be sure to monitor it closely/don't leave stuff soaking in it, I have fucked up and melted plastic in that stuff before.

You are either inattentive or haven't been in this game long enough. The thin baggies (used for things like axis joints, swings, etc.) have no cuts in them, because they're already easy to tear open. The thicker baggies (used for complete figures) have very tiny cuts in them at the edges where you can start to tear them open, look for it next time you order.

Also, Matt uses both bubble mailers and boxes. It depends how much you order. Apparently you have never made a big enough order to justify using a box.

Gator's back from the vet today. 93 pounds of muscle and healthy as heck. Pure evolved instinct and bottled up adrenaline. Gator chomps a pound of raw turkey like it's a snack of Dorito's, and I ain't never seen that dog eat watermelon. Grand Isle ain't gonna last forever, that thing's sinking into the sea. I'm gonna bury Gator under the persimmon tree out back, but first I gotta finish loving him while he ain't gone.

Anyway, Glyos is kind of like that. You get into them at first and it's really exciting, and over time that excitement develops into something mature, more of a healthy respect, and eventually you gotta know where they're gonna end up when you're done.

Nothing from the TGB really excites me anymore. Like it's a good figure, I just have plenty of them at this point. The first ones I bought in a long time were the granite pvc ones because that's an awesome colorway. More power to Marty if enough sell each time though.

I'm hoping it'll be the short guy on the right as a mid-price Crayboth-ish figure. Head, arms, and torso as separate parts, maybe legs too. I quite like the Callgrim-bodied guy, but I feel like translating him to a production figure would necessitate the reduction of all that nice sculpt detail and paint work, kind of ruining what it has going for it at the moment. I don't particularly like the middle two- Although the wooden appearance is well-done, again, I don't see the figures translating well to production.

The picture he posted is pretty early customs by PJ, not his later better custom figures.

Cynodraxus here is the "younger brother of Geodraxus" and while he's really cool, I think his parts would probably be too similar to Geodraxus to justify him being a second production PVC figure.

But it should be noted that the original Geodraxus looked pretty different from the production PVC geo and pretty much identical to Cynodraxus. Obviously, he had to be bulked out a bit for the move to PVC, which is a shame because I like the slim look. But PVC Geo has the genius of so many different head parts and generally useful building parts.

Acris was pretty cool, with unique chunky parts, but I think it would need some fine tuning in the sculpt for PVC. I'm confident that could happen after seeing Geo. I was never a fan of the Fallout ripoff head, but another head (the Acronaut with a face visor) was much better. There was also a Pheyden-ish "Mecha Traveler" head.

Raptinok and Tritanok, just the big dino feet and pelvis with a tail would be huge for building. I always thought they looked kind of rough but I think they'd look great in PVC after some tightening up. The body had a bunch of circles down the spine that could be painted in a contrasting color and really popped.

So I bought a couple of the Healymade Raiders just to test them out. They're well made and have detailed paint apps, but they fall into the same realm as OSM in that I can't see myself ever using them for anything except display. So, sadly, I think I'm gonna pass on that line. I prefer things I can build with. I wish them the best, though.

This is my sentiment exactly. Kabuto Mushi is a great mold, but I have so many of them now and Marty hasn't put out a tempting colorway in a minute. And Nemesis, well, I just never was a fan. I'll probably jump back in if Mushi 1.5 ever hits production.
