I think pokepla mainly serve as an entry into model kits for more casual audiences. similar too haropla. This is probably the main reason they stuck around.
I also have a conspiracy that some marketing department in pokemon really loves action gimicks (firing missiles, slashing actions, moving legs). I feel like even kids would rather have better figs, than to gimp a good sculpt with a trigger mechanism. I don't know why pokepla has these.
