Well, guess I am ordering this from abroad as well. I have completely lost all faith into local tool and even hobby shops. You want a single item in any way out of the norm and nobody even knows it exists

I didn't have any paint issues on the few I bought. I don't really think they're worth the premium price they're charging for them though. They don't look or feel as premium quality as Auto World or Hot Wheels Car Culture despite being around the same price.

A "super" is the same $1 base car that's in the case, it's not just the TH logo that makes it a super. Usually the paint will be metallic (spectraflame) and the car will have rubber tires (real riders) instead of plastic.

Premising i'm kind of new into collecting, looking for hws i found that when a model comes in two colors usually one is harder to find.
Is this just me or actually one of the colors is produced in smaller quantity?
Or is it just that one is more sought after than the other for reasons: like pic related where blue is historically accurate?

For the most part mainlines will come in about 3 cases in a row. Usually 2 / case. A repaint of the same car usually comes out a couple cases after the first version is done. The only real scarcity comes when it's a hot model and collectors snap them up. Personally I agree with >>7888117 because it looks like a rocket

I've always wanted to buy a large multipack, but the exclusives are usually not that great and the rest of the color options rather boring for the most part, and the ones you want can always be found in a single or two tripple packs

They should really go crazy instead of just slapping 10 boring cars into one box

I mainly collect hot wheels that are from movies, video games or sometimes if they look like cool dinosaurs. I usually buy 2 so I can have one mint. I don't understand treasure hunt since they aren't labeled so I may have passed them up in the past.

I used tissue and cotton swab to dry the whole car , the smell got weaker ( you only smell it when you get very up close ) I guess opening all the movable part helped to air it out, I was scared it was the chrome paint oxydizing or something. If your in it for funsies then rule 1 to collecting is collect what you like

If you want something more premium to collect then the real riders hotwheels sets is what you want. Cars use rubber tires for these sets. There's alot of these hitting the shelves recently for its popularity

The former, it's actually a treasure hunt since they're harder to find (low number) and are "better" than basic ones. Hell, it's hard for me to find regular T-Hunts. (although it's not like I look very hard). I found the SWAT Unimog a couple of weeks ago, pretty neat looking. My previous T-Hunt was the...Fandango, which is a 2017 release. Damn.

Any tips for securing 1:18 cars to display cases? Both the case and the underside of the car have no screw/mounting holes in them.
I was originally thinking of drilling 2 holes in the case base and the underside of the car and using screws and some sort of black spacer or a piece of black rubber hose to hide the screw, but then I saw someone suggest using wire around the axles, and drilling holes in the base to thread them through, so this way I don't have to drill into the car, just several through the base.

I bought some during a Black Friday sale at "modelcarworld" who also have a sister site "american-excellence" Worked out to around $10 a case after discount/combined shipping and survived the trip from Germany to Australia. They're not perfect, have a couple of marks here and there from manufacturing, etc, but they'll do the job for me.
I was going to link you to them but I can't seem to find them on either site anymore. They were already on clearance and there were dead bugs in them despite being factory sealed so they may have been really old stock they were clearing out, so uh, sorry.

For displaying loose just google "hot wheels display case" there's a bunch of people who make acrylic "shelves" with compartments. Mattel makes one but it's kind of expensive for only storing 50 cars.

As for what to open and what to keep mint, that's on you. When there's a Car Culture release with really nice card art i'll usually double up and grab a sterling protector for the one I want to enjoy that way.

It really only holds 48 unless you have some smaller cars you’re putting in there, like the MX-5 Miata. I bought one from Amazon recently when it was on sale. It’s a nice sturdy case, but I’d have a hard time justifying more than the $35 I spent on it. It’s also definitely designed as a display piece and isn’t at all ideal for storage. It’s big, bulky, and heavy.
