Ok, I just started collecting Figuarts and Figma, ordered a bunch of figures of ebay and won a couple of auctions. So far from what I can tell I've been careful enough to avoid bootlegs. These came in today, looked them over and they seem authentic. got the sailor moon for $25 plus 5 shipping, came with extra hands other then what is normally included and the crybaby face plate with was only available with the original release ..as extras thrown in by the seller. The Bluma, Mars, and Imposter Sailor Moon (Zoisite) was new and never opened. So far each figure has been under $35 shipped, got Mar and Imposter SM off Amazon, and SM and Bulma off Ebay. Still to come is, Jupiter (won in auction for 45, Mercury, and super Mercury (bought on accident thinking it was the original), Venus, and Tuxedo mask (who was only $20 in auction which I won, (seller mentioned it was missing one of the extra hands and the legs were a little loose, but Tuxedo Mask was overall good quality..and this is the same seller and the one who bought the SM figure off of which was legit..so here's hoping its good) As for Figma, I ordered a used Hatsune Miku 014, and Haruhi Suzumiya 002, and finally ordered a body chan figure, think its a bootleg but really don't care on this one since it was only 8 bucks. These are my first figures and the ones pictured are what has come in so far, just got them today. so what am I getting myself into?? Really wanna collect all the sailor moon figures first, then work on dragonball, only problem i forsee is a lot of the older figures are way high in price, and bootlegs are everywhere, and on some of the higher priced figures like android 18, I'm just debating buying the bootleg instead..are they decent enough?

>>7883485 well I've been interested for years but never really gave in to collecting them till now.
I've been a lurker for years, and ussually collected other stuff like Marvel Universe and anime statues. just couldn't see myself dropping $50 plus of a figure till now.
I've sold off most my Marvel Universe figures already since they were crap quality, and too many exclusives.
If I collect figurarts and figma..I'm just gonna collect the ones and interest me, and get rid of the completionist mentality.

was never really interested in import stuff till now.

>>7883481 Congrats anon. If you have enough space and a deep enough wallet you should be good.
Also check out Mandarake for some good prices. If you don't mind buying used figures, the majority of the time their quality control is really fuckin' good and knock down the price just for small scratches/dents on the box.
>I'm just debating buying the bootleg instead..are they decent enough? From what I've seen, people say Bootleg Midoria is pretty decent, otherwise they're riddled with brittle joints and crap quality all around.
Just be aware if the figure is ships from China it's likely to be a bootleg regardless if the seller says otherwise. Sometimes they'll have pics showing off the spotty plastic and joints like pic related.

in short, you're YEARS late for decent prices, and just early to witness the horrors of infinite price hike. you're fucked. moral of the story: always preorder. the sailor moon shf are super subpar so if you can't find one for a good price don't sweat it. as for dragon ball, I'm sure the autistic fanbase will keep the prices insane until the end of time. don't use ebay. always check if the item is located in china or the seller/shop is. bootlegs are bring arts tier awful, I'd advise against them.

>>7883481 You don't need to own everything.
It's okay to just get one version of a character that you like the most.
You don't need the whole team.

Telling you this for your own good (since you're buying a lot in 1 go it seems), but don't impulse-buy stuff and I'd suggest only focusing on getting figures of characters you're actually attached to. $35-$50 doesn't seem like a lot but it adds up very quickly. You'll save money and not end up feeling buyer's regret after losing interest in them quickly.

>>7884160 >in short, you're YEARS late for decent prices Depends on the show. Actually a ton of older figma go for dirt cheap now.
>Moral of the story: always pre-order For SH Figuarts YES, for figma NO. Unless the figma character's extremely popular, most recent figma lessen in price after they're released.

>>7885534 >Actually a ton of older figma go for dirt cheap now. Old figmas and Nendoroids get all sticky and smell like absolute shit. I once bought like Nendoroid #150 or some shit and I opened it and there was plasticizers everywhere and my entire apartment reeked of absolute shit until I threw the fucker in the trash.
So yeah, just a heads up, if you fuck around with older figures, make sure it was stored somewhere decent, if that even helps...

>>7885572 just got the Haruhi Suzumiya 002 figma in today and noticed parts of her were sticky..like you described, mainly the leg and dress and armband. Is there a remedy to fixing this issue? luckily i didn't pay too much for her, only about $25. She is staying in the box for now. She was cheap and basically bought her as a test figure to compare with Figuarts. Figuarts seems to have more of the characters I was interested in.

I did a quick google search and found that link, came back to the thread and found you beat me to it.
anyway..I'm gonna open the box up and let her breath for a bit then try the 10 parts water one part soap and wash her with that to see if it fixes the issue.
