What is the best way to deal with figure parts and boxes? I used to just keep the pieces with the boxes but this is getting out of hand. What do you do? How do you store your boxes and parts?

I know a common solution that anons use is chucking the boxes and keeping the figure and accessories together in the slots of a tackle box.
And I wouldn't work for stuff like most human size/shape figmas and Figuarts

Buy some acid free plastic bags used for archival. Place figures in there and keep them in a box with air holes.
It's probably a better way to store the figure if you don't throw the box either.

I'm probably gonna move to using a tackle box or something for my parts. Put tiny stuff in little bags. Part of my issue is I keep all the japanese figure boxes because 90% of the time it sells for more on the resale market.

I think I'm gonna take a figure parts out and seperate the boxes by brand and series.

Marvel legends boxes have a been chucked. I used to keep them for some of the hard to find ones like Moon Knight and shit but now I only keep the fancy deluxe 5 figure boxes because they display well with my comics.

But seriously as of now I've got 2 walmart plastic storage boxes full.

Figuarts and other high end figures keep the boxes, neca keep on a case by case basis if you like to keep the box (gamer gremlin), marvel legends black series and other low end price figures boxes arent really worth it.

I used to keep every box but that ended up being its own problem so I threw a majority of them out. Now I just keep boxes I like the look of (Beast Box Dio's for example), boxes where it's easier to keep the accessories in them instead of my own container (nendo Kirby) or ones where I know the figure will be worth more if I ever choose to sell if I keep it (MP Soundwave).

I store my boxes on shelves that are too high for convenient everyday use. I'm 5'0" so that's a lot of them.

The figure parts go into those little plastic boxes with separate compartments.

As somebody who has moved 4 times in the last decade, the original packaging is convenient to safely pack up my figures.

If the box is an art piece, I save it. Otherwise, it gets recycled. For instance, Soul of Chogokin boxes are worth keeping just to admire them

While I do like to keep boxes for storing accessories in, I have been trying to transition storing my extra figure parts in these dedicated draws (problem is even that's pretty much full now). I've also been trying to throw away boxes for things I'll definitely keep, but I am afraid of not having then for storage if I move.

Anyways, now I've got a draw full of boxes, a few in my closet and this stack developing on my top shelf with each new release

This becomes a dangerous mentality fast because of how big the boxes are. Your first few chogokins are impressive because of how new they are new and different. Not so much by your 10th or 15th.

My rule of thumb with boxes as art tends to be, if there's a drawing or painting on the box, keep. If its just a lazy photo of the toy, dump it. There's exceptions, of course, with the SoC stuff I'll keep the box because the possible resale value is so high. And there's cheap toys with really nice packaging I've dumped just because I couldn't justify keeping the box for a $20 figure. Neca used to have some gorgeous box art and I used to feel bad dumping them considering stuff like the rambo line had original painted art for the packages but it just became a matter of practicality.

I guess there's the rare exception where they commission art to make it look fancy, especially with Japanese figures like that. Usually only model kits get really nice art.

learn to store your stuff better. i have over a dozen of these pair of cans, plus the inserts. Safe as fuck.
If i kept the packaging, it'd be like 12' x 3' of cheapshit thin cardboard and bubbles, and would take 5x more time to move.

Also have tackle boxes and knitting/knicknack containers too, from before i switched to ammo cans.

I put the boxes in my closet with a bunch of other shit I have collected over the years. The space parts go in zip lock bags in bins. I also have a few boxes on a shelf of my displace case. Works out nice.

I have models though, and other delicate as fuck minis, so they go into foam like this or i cut it out myself. I use cases meant for medical supplies though.

It's actually easier to just keep them on display and dust them every other month than being stored somewhere.
And its fun to just have them out and do simple games from time to time.

I've kept most boxes, but after collecting for 10+ years, it's getting to the point to where I'm starting to consider tossing them all. Do I really want empty cardboard and plastic taking up space in my garage or attic? Unless I can come up with a better, more organized way of storing them than just tossing them in boxes in the garage, they'll probably go soon.

For parts, I do what most of the other posters do, I use tackle boxes. I've toyed with the idea of actually woodworking something better with modular, removable compartments, but I haven't really had the time for it.

I also bought inserts to organize them.

They were $20 or $25 at Costco, so i bought about a dozen sets. Brand new and came with the smaller can inside the bigger one. They're only OK quality. They're stamped, but they didn't do a good job, so they don't stack up as securely as i'd want. They seal tightly with a gasket too, so there's little chance of anything getting wet unless submerged.
Notice i put in a moisture packet though, just to keep out any smells.

Keeping boxes has two benefits for me;

1) if I ever change my mind about a toy, realize I don't have any particular love for them, I originally bought them on an impulse or something and I'd rather have the extra money and space, having the original box makes them that much easier to sell.
2) if it's something I plan on keeping forever but not displaying all of the time, the original box makes it much easier to store away and kept organized and/or transport, like that one anon who mentioned moving.

I only buy things that I like, and can potentially resell if I get tired of it. So I keep the boxes. The boxes are also a good way of keeping my collecting in check. Once I start seeing space is a problem, then I know it's time to sell shit I no longer want. The money from sales is then used to buy new figs, so I don't really have to use new money for my collection.
