It's simple, start a flickr (and brickshelf) or whatever. Make photos of your builds and submit them there. Doesn't matter if they're bad photos. Put your name over the photos as a watermark on a side or whatever, in such a way that it can't be cropped out. That's all and it should be enough, honestly I can't see someone copying any of your creations brick-for-brick and entering them into any profitable endeavours. Does it really happen often in the community? The build would need to be really superb and normie-appealing for that to happen, I feel.

I am collecting Lego again after a 30 year hiatus and trying to acquire all the Castle sets from the 80s. Something about these auctions on ebay confuses me and I want to know if this is normal for Lego collectors. On most ebay auctions for other collectable products, (not Lego) I rarely see much bid activity until the last day. But with Lego, these lunatics start bidding right when an auction starts, even though they have a week before it ends. Why is this? Don't these people know they are just going to cause the final winning bid to be higher? I thought it was common ebay practice not to bid until the last day. Its infuriating and driving up prices. Any info is appreciated.

Simply put, that's not going to happen.
No "popular" MOC builder would copy other people's work. First off, it's really easy to prove it's someone else's work, and secondly there's no real reason for anyone to do so. Other people build MOCs for the fun of it, and so should you. There's no fun in copying someone else's build brick by brick. Hell, a lot of people are selling instructions for their builds, no one's buying these and reposting the builds as their own.
Just post your stuff without fear. I want to see it, and so do other people.

When I was a NEET with infinite time and no money I built almost exclusively digitally, neglecting my childhood collection and imagining all the bricks I could buy.
Now I'm a salary man with no time and 3 money I have been building mostly with my old collection and haven't bought much at all.
Having physical limitations really helps keep build sessions short and sweet.
Still haven't got around to buying this plane though.

There's something I've been pondering for a while now: once VR resolution and haptics improve to the point where it's nearly impossible for the user to discern any difference between it and reality, is Lego finished? When the builder has virtual access to an infinite number of parts in every possible color, why would anyone buy physical Lego?

There's actually a completely different worry for Lego and that's 3D printing. I doubt VR gets to the point it's impossible to tell from reality within our lifetime. But 3D printing will surely get to the point where you'll be able to print your own bricks of Lego-like quality within the next 10 or 20 years.

How would you anons feel if Lego started doing more licensing?
I don't mean stuff like Star Wars/Marvel/Disney/IP Licensing. I mean Brand Licensing.
Like what they use to do with Shell and Toys R Us.

So for example, say in next years City line, they did a Construction sub-theme that featured Bulldozers and Grader and other construction equipment, but instead of them just being generic vehicles they're based on real world vehicles and equipment made by brands like CAT (Caterpillar Inc.). Or a Farm sub-theme which includes John Deere or New Holland tractors and harvesters.

I presume there are other Lego builders like myself who collect and build with other brands. Since these conventions are not officially sanctioned by Lego, I don't see the harm in bringing non-Lego creations to display. I do understand that some autismos might be triggered by seeing it, which is probably why they have that "only Lego" rule in place. I was just curious if anybody has been to a con, and if they've seen non-Lego creations being displayed.

Made a couple changes to the falcon from last thread, mainly added a rotating astromech droid pit and making an extra panel so I can cover up the interior while the middle panel is "down", removing the space between the two forks in the front of the ship (like in the Solo movie Falcon).

I wish Lego would release a new Technic subline like Bionicle and Slizers. I'd settle for printed faces instead of unique molds. Though seeing how prints have gone to hell, I wonder if they'd come out worse than prints from 15-20 years ago.

My lore autism and aesthetics autism are currently in conflict. The grey mandalorian helmet looks aesthetically great on my blue guy (who was previously wearing a blue power miners helmet with a black visor), but I already have a green mandalorian helmet on the green guy. Plus I also gave the blue guy a lightsaber arbitrarily and having both a lightsaber and a mandalorian helmet would be too far into "oc donut steel" territory for my liking.
So if I want to keep the helmet on my blue guy i'm going to have to find a new green helmet for my green guy and a new weapon for my blue guy. What do?

I want the tail to be elevated slightly to match the old model, dropping it down a brick brings it inline with the wings and it looks a little off. The way I've attached it also means it doesn't line up properly with the rest of the roof so I'd have to rebuild the middle section of the tail anyway.
I've tried normal wedges, and they look ok, but the sloped wedges are basically the perfect piece for how this is built at the moment.
I should probably just buy it and come up with solutions later but I'm also extremely lazy.

Bonkle wasn't too easy to blend with System, the joints for their System mechs are good but currently don't have many pieces that can easily transition to Technic, Mixels is great but needs more pieces period and also needs more Technic compatibility, and CCBS wasn't compatible with jack. Mixels and Bonk were the best that buildable figures ever got in Lego, and unfortunately don't seem to be evolving.

-The Unikitty sets were too Junior-like and unimaginative, not to mention overpriced. Simple, boring builds, where they had a goldmine of possibilities. At least the figures were cute anyway.

If we're talking video games, I think a classic fantasy Not-Zelda theme would be a lot of fun. Relatively subdued character designs (compared to Ninjago), lots of puzzles and play features, and a Castle aesthetic to make up for the lack of actual Castle in recent years.

I guess you could also think of it as Elves with minifigs.

The part creator lets you map images onto parts as if they were decals, yep. Works pretty well.

I've decided my alt!setting needed an "Egypt, but if Ancient Egypt was never conquered" faction. The plane is mostly based on the Mirage F1, which I've wanted to build for *ages* as it's the prettiest Mirage (delta wing is fucking pic), but never had a good intake solution until now.

Is it bad that I like the Pixar Juniors sets (ToyStory/Incredibles/Cars/etc)?
I only care about the figures/characters, so whatever few builds there are are just tossed into my parts bin, and if I wanted to, I could pretty easily MOC the sets to be more complex. One of my favorites is this one of the RC set, since the newer one is technically better in scale than the 2010 one anyway, and there's relatively few changes to the main build since it's only a few big pieces regardless.

I love it.
It does seem a bit small, but the details more than make up for it, like Parisian Restaurant which is probably my favorite.
The minifigs feel a bit lackluster, compared to modulars like Assembly Square and Downtown Diner which had figs that bursted with personality and really tied the builds together. The lime scarf is nice and I'll definitely grab some from Bricks and Pieces or Bricklink.
The lack of books also feels a bit weird. Moby Brick is nice, but what about 20,000 Leagues Under The Baseplate, Of Tiles And Men, and other classics?

Yeah but they're all just tiles without prints. There doesn't even seem to be any other books in the same style as the Moby Brick book without a print, making it stand out in an awkward way.
I do like the way they've made a suggestion of shelves full of books, but for both playability and detail's sake it would be nice to have a couple more books like Moby Brick so customers wouldn't need to fight over it and it wouldn't stick out as the only "real" book.

It is, and as I said it's only filled with suggestions of books, not actual books that can be taken out and displayed or played with, unless they've somehow managed to hide the other books out of view and not taken a single pictures of them.

Hm, are there instructions for this moc? I looked it up but it uses a lot of tiny parts for the rear engine bit and the rear portion is almost completely rebuilt anyways, so I'm a bit lost. Yes I'm dumb I know.

and here is my next faction, you all know who i'm talking about, ice planet, altho it's not an OC, i tried to reimagine them as a mining company that expanded around the cosmos much like the weyland yutani corp of the alien movies, anyways, the ice planet is a corporation dedicated to extract precious minerals off of abandoned planets, the guys on the picture are the "lowest" tier of ice planet employees on the field, the scouts, these guys are dedicated to explore the planet to see if it's a candidate for ore collecting, they are equipped with a knife just in case, a pair of exo-boots that allow them to slide across the desertic tundra(equipped with skis and a smol generator in each leg that impulses them as if they were small ships), their helmets are equipped with an anti-glare shiled so they don't get blinded by the extreme whites of the polar biomas, and last but not least they have a multitool on the back taht acts as an ore extractor and a hunting rifle to defend themselves from the local wildlife, needless to say the space suit can also take on very low temperatures

Got some more parts in the mail from Bricklink today, which let me add Purple and Magenta into my lineup of assorted troopers. I think i'm also pretty happy with their current somewhat arbitrary assortment of torsos, helmets and accessories (although I might replace the purple torso since it has some cracks, and I might swap out the Red helmet for one that isn't missing 99% of its paint).

1.- the mech design is borrowed from an anon from here, although he posed it way better, sorry for taking it anon
2.- the orange canister is used to collect bakta, a precious fuel that strangely exist only in icy planets and is extremely good at powering all the iceplanet company's tech
3.- the parts in orange are what i call a material called orenjicium, which is pretty much the equivalent to marvel universe's vibranium, it's only used in critiacl parts that need it such as vents, exhausts and the claw's teeth, that is all anons

Modular buildings aren't as accessible as other themes and the while I think the new set is beautiful, it seems like they are trying to sell you 2/3 of a modular set at full price to coax consumers into buying multiple sets. That feels predatory to me.

This wasn't intentionally Area 88 (other than being based on a Mirage F1), so no. I haven't made as many jets as prop planes, although I like Korea/Vietnam-era jets more than the WW2 stuff so I really *should*.

Thanks, that makes more sense. Though then also, wouldn't the 1x2 with the bar be slightly raised from the surface like that 1x2 grill piece? It's flush with the side, so there's some sort of other piece that's being used inbetween the two 1x2 half-cheeses and the 1x2 hinge used for the spoiler...
I'm thinking he maybe used two of these 1x1 headlight bricks laid down on their sides, but then that would mean their bottom halves would be sticking out the back, and that wouldn't make sense because it wouldn't be flush with that 1x2 limegreen cheese wedge behind it.

It does and doesn't. Basically the Jewish-Roman wars of 66-135 CE don't happen due to Egypt never being annexed, so there's no exodus, and while Israel exists in the setting, during the 1900s it's basically the Middle-Eastern equivalent of like, Wales or something.

My version of the Axis is France/German/Egypt/Japan.

I haven't calculated it out (or finished verifying part colours), but if past planes are any indication probably $300-350CAD.

The IRL Lightning had over-wing hardpoints too, but sadly they only used them for fuel tanks.

Looking at it, it looks like the single big Juniors chassis piece as was tossed out entirely in favor of using separate pieces, though the wheels are still in the same places. The engine wouldn't have any other way to attach if it wasn't, so it makes sense.

Unironically love this set. Shame about Green helmet guy. That green is just incorrect. Its like they wanted to put a green guy in there but didn't want it to mistaken for Boba Fett. Dusted off my modulars and got my winter village stuff out for the season. Going to give my modular street a little festive makeover, thinking of building some small christmas market stalls. I've also ordered the recent gift-with-purchase christmas tree to put in place of the Assembly Square's fountain.

Prints will be fine unless you scour the pieces. Use a toothbrush if you need to, but it usually comes off with hot water and dish soap.

I would not recommend using air cans. The gas causes rapid temperature drop that can cause cracks to form. If you have an actual electric air compressor, that's fine because the blown air will be room temperature.

This isnt going to stand at all. You literally have FOUR points of motion below its centre of balance. Theres high friction joints you can get, they add onto ball joints to make them stiff. Look them up but you have far too many pieces to be stable. Its going to faceplant from the ankles

He removed the instructions from Mediafire because he works for DK(I think?) doing Lego books, and some Chinese company used the instructions to sell kits.

I do have a collection of .LXFs I put together way back, though they aren't perfect since LDD is finicky about some of the tolerances he uses.
