I think Disney should just sell the franchise off and wash their hands of it.

Sell it to Paramount. It's not like anyone else can afford it(maybe Hasbro if they fire a hundred people or something stupid, but theycan't fund movies). Allow some official Star Wars/Star Trek crossovers. The fanboys will either love it or shoot themselves. Orci & Kurtzman can write the scripts and people will beg Disney back.

Basically. The combination of Disney and JJ being desperate to get fans back on their side combined with JJ's inability to ever provide a satisfactory resolution to anything he set up (much less anything someone else set up) means this movie is going to be a mess.

I mean realistically there was no way to save the trilogy, this movie was going to be bad no matter what but there was a chance it could've just been a mediocre end. Instead it looks like JJ is giving us an absolute trainwreck.

EU? Maybe 3 or 4 here and there but anyone not a "main" character is usually shoved to convention exclusives, store exclusives that don't get stocked very well or secondary to remaking the same few heroes repeatedly- see Transformers recycling the main few yearly while other characters get 1 toy every 10 years.

Hasbro has more to do with the toys being awful than people want to admit, as this shit happened under King George.

Not that it would be terrible- start from Ep1 and rewrite things more coherently, remove the bullshit and build up from the start instead of changing their mind during the sequel to redo Vader's character and churning out afterthought prequels. Have Palpatine put a leash on Vader because letting him killing loyal Imperials left & right is bad for morale, tone down how blatantly evil the Empire is.... fuck me... Palpatine, in hindsight, is a moron and much of ANH actually makes no sense thanks to how much they changed from the original concepts in ANH with ESB.

Two years ago the going line was that the prophecy refers to the end of the Sith so Snoke and other dark side forces growing powerful don't count. I did this about a year ago, the chest piece is a separate piece made of softer plastic than the actual chest so if you heat it it'll become pliable. From what I remember the back flaps of the chestpiece are glued to his back so you still need to pull on them a bit to peel them off.

I read Crimson Empire recently and loved it, so I picked up the Royal Guard figure. But I hated the weapon that he comes with. I decided to make him a lightsaber of sorts. Played around with a few ideas, but settled on a short spear, kind of a nod to the Aiel from WoT. I wanted it to be janky as fuck, like the dude watched a few how to vids on YouTube and just went for it. Anyway, here's a few pics. I'm pretty happy with how it came out. It's made from spare Mega Construx parts, nail polish, and hockey tape.

A friend introduced me to this casting site and they make just about every head you could want for 6" scale. I went down the rabbit hole trying to decide what to get. There are also kits for characters with specific torsos and armor pieces like if you wanted to make Prune Face or a Clone Commando. Ended up getting the Quarren kit, an Aayla Secura head and then the Beskar pauldron for Mando. Only weird thing is you have to register with the site and wait for approval in order to browse but it only took about an hour before I got in.

I've been buying cheap BS bodies for fodder so I think I'm going to use the Solo movie version of Han and make the Quarren from the opening scene of The Mandalorian. The Aayla head is going to be just a custom Twi'lek that I want for a diorama I'm making.

Painting's not so hard Anon. Chinks can do it. HK is pretty much just two colors with some weathering. Just thin the paint with isopropyl alcohol and work it up in thin layers. Spray it with a clear coat and then you can weather it using some black paint and Q tips and make little scuff marks with a silver sharpie along the edges here and there. Speaking of which, found a custom someone made, I wonder if they used that same kit.

I almost want to get another one so I can swap the Skiff Head onto the ESB, but I think the ESB one's body is still kinda pear-shaped almost, or just somehow off, and the only reason that actually matters is because the cape is so ungainly.
Hopefully we'll just get a new one entirely for the ESB anniversary. A new face and cloth cape would be a pretty cheap adds for a rerelease.

For some reason Hasbro has always been inconsistent with skin tones for him. I think the POTF2 era was the last time multiple Landos had the same skin tone, since then he seems to vary from black as hell to outright white.

Yep, along with completely invaliding the prophecy of the chosen one, which like it or not was a significant part of the first 6 movies. Even without the prophecy, it makes Vader's sacrifice just kind of pointless.

Apparently Kylo also does a similar sacrifice because JJ has zero creativity. The guy can't come up with any original ideas.

It's watchable and I feel over hyped in the same way the Mandalore is with Star Wars where it's better than what was done before. It's fine as a film. That said I doubt this will get him out of the slump he will likley stay in where he burned so much good faith with the general audience that he is just going to be seen as -that guy- and never break away from it. Him taking a Star Wars film was the worst thing he could have ever done to his career.

JJ decided at the last minute that Leia actually was a Jedi after all, despite having gone out of his way to show she didn't follow that path in TFA.

Apparently Trevorrow had planned the same thing when he was still onboard, though he at least planned to actually show her as one which got derailed when Carrie died. JJ doing it just seems disingenuous since it was his choice not to make her one in the first place and now he can't actually depict it so we get people talking about her being a Jedi but the character herself never getting to acknowledge it despite being in the same movie.

The films Abrams directed until this last one were very safe IPs he plays very safe and the magic is starting to wear off. What gets him mercy in the past was he understood the material on a very superficial level. So say for example he directed the Bay Transformers films, they would be the same schlock we got but with more G1 designs and looks and a lot of "remember the old cartoon show?" which would have made many gloss over and forgive all it's sins (The Bumblebee movie proved as much) What got Rian into so much trouble was he had no fucking clue what he was playing with and took all the fluff of a Bay film and made it both boring and nonsensical. You look at Abrams you just see a guy that plays in a toy box unoriginally. You look at Rian and you instantly flash to moments like Luke Skywalker drinking tit milk, Leia nun flying in space or Rose "saving" Finn and he will never be free of that mark he has burned on his face.

Moral from all this: don't get fucking experimental with a established 40 year old story

Apparently this whole time Leia had Jedi training and could potentially train others but I guess they felt she wasn't a threat? Did they somehow not know she was also a Jedi? Did the Resistance who needed the Jedi back also not know they were following a Jedi the whole time? Did Leia just badly flunk her Jedi training to the point that Snoke didn't see her as a threat and the Resistance didn't see her as a symbol of hope?

The entire search for Luke makes no sense anymore, at least not to the degree of urgency that it's treated.

Dark Empire could always be dismissed since only Lucas' works (the six films and TCW) were ever truly canon. The sequels and their total invalidation of what came before them are here to stay unless Disney decide to do another purge, which won't happen (at least not for several decades).

Lucas gave the ok on dark empire and consulted on the Sidious clones, because they originally wanted a vader imposter. So before the eu purge dark empire was canon to an extent. Nothing was ever gonna stick character or world wise when there was merchandise to be sold and lucas wanting to do 11 films as a family drama.

TFA gave people what they wanted: TIE Fighters, X-Wings, the Falcon, etc. That's why they give it a pass even though it adds very little to the franchise and actively requires the previous installment to be torn down almost entirely in order to justify its existence. There's whole swaths of people out there who really did just want the OT again, so when they get a movie that's basically two hours of "HEY REMEMBER STAR WARS? REMEMBER?" they ate it up.

Then TLJ happened and didn't pander to nostalgia, but it sucked so everyone blames it for ruining the ST even though it was ruined right out of the gate.
