I make my own toys anon: each one is uniquely handcrafted from the driftwood I find when out taking night walks, and found screws and bolts from single speed bicycles and cafe racers that are parked outside next to the local brewery.

I just try and get the ones I really like. Sometimes one will end up being "rare" years later (worth 30 bucks instead of 3) but that doesn't seem to happen as much anymore. I think I have about 30 hotdog guys.

I remember the hype with the Series 1. You just couldnt find them anywhere because iirc they were 2$/bag.

I enjoyed collecting the unique ones that weren't in current themes, like a team of mini super heroes. But it ran on so long that it felt a bit saturated in colleciton

Eh, just collect the ones you like the look of, no real need to collect everything in every wave if you don't like some of them.
The only time I collected minifigs was with Lego Batman and I only collected the villain ones and now I'm done.

If you're in it for the money, and resale, here's what's valuable: For the most part, Lego isn't as good of an investment as trading cards. Some starwars shit goes up in price quick. Comic-con exclusives can get into the hundreds of dollars range on the aftermarket. Complete sets of Minifigure series sell pretty well. If a minifig is exclusive to one set- especially the more expensive ones (even if it is generic or has no unique pieces)- are always going to cost a decent amount.

If you just want to enjoy plastic toys, sure, there's no harm in it.

They are still doing blind bags, but lately they have been doing licensed blind bag packs more than regular Lego-themed ones.

We've had two waves of Simpsons, two Lego movie waves (one for each film), a Ninjaro (crappy spelling) wave, a Harry Potter wave, two Lego Batman waves, a couple of Disney centric waves, and a non-Lego Batman movie wave coming out early next year.

I have a transparent piece of Tupperware in my room with tons of minifigs in it. One half of them are minifigs I've owned since childhood. The other half are bootleg minifigures from China. Lego has gotten quite expensive in my country (each collectible minifig bag costs 600$ of my currency) so I often buy those knockoff sets that have minifigs in them (they're 1/3 of the cost of a collectible minifig bag). I have most of the Avengers, several star wars characters and the entire Justice League now. I like putting them on display, even if they're bootleg they're still cool and I appreciate them. I guess minifig collecting gets better if you have some emotional attachment to them. Or if you want to sell them for a better price in the future, too. All I know is that I sure love my Jabba the Hutt bootleg. Thanks for reading my blog.

It isn't worth it in the sense that they are an investment. The time and effort that goes into it just isn't worth waiting years to sell a $4 figure for $7.

Certain waves have had the more desirable figures be more rare. Outside of the classic cop I don't think any of them were worth feeling out to resell. Maybe if you can get box(es) at the price retailers pay and sell specific ones at higher prices and the unpopular ones as 'random' at MSRP, but there are a lot of people already doing this.

Personally I'm sick of the blind bags and the prices. If I really want a figure I'll pay a reseller, but usually I'd rather put that money toward something that isn't as over priced and I don't have to feel like a dick for going through and picking out the cool/rare ones and leaving the crap for kids.

Rather ambiguous question, but since you phrased it using "worth," I'm assuming you mean from an investment standpoint with potential to make a profit later on. While I am not the most Lego knowledgeable person, I would say know; they strike me as being like PEZ dispensers. Fans collect them, fans try to sell them to other collectors, but for the most part there is never any real increase in monetary value (why the fuck did I just make this so wordy?).

Collecting product specifically designed to be a collectible is not worth it if you mean worth as in longterm monetary gains. I guess if you like Lego minifigs then collecting them is worth it in some abstract intangible buying things makes me feel good way.

Help me out bros. I'm trying to make a Minifig USB drive like pic related. Hollowing out the body so it can house a small drive is easy but trying to turn the legs into a cover proves to be a challenge. There are guides online but most of them discard the legs.
