>>7926328>>7926353You're both fucking stupid.
Sonic is liked for many different reasons. I am a Sonic fan because I like the character. You know what else I like? Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry....seeing the pattern here?
People my age were exposed to Sonic in many different forms, and in many different ways. I see Sonic as a character. Just like how I saw Earthworm Jim as a character. When I buy a character game series, I don't expect it to be like other games before it. Mickey Mouse and the other characters I mentioned have had games too. Guess what? Those characters are still cherished.
Sonic only gets the negative attention by "gamers" because for some reason Mario is allowed to do whatever the fuck he wants, however he wants, in any genre and no one bats an eye....but Sonic racing in a game? unacceptable. Sonic in a board game? Ridiculous. Sonic doing minigames? Pathetic. Sonic trying to be in a RPG? Heresy.
I believe the people who get hate boners for Sonic is at the same level of people who are obsessed with him only in a opposite spectrum. Like a Trekkie who goes on a Star Wars board just to fling shit for no reason.
And yeah, there's fanfiction. There's fanfiction and perverted drawings of ALOT of things. Sonic is not exclusive to that.
And this is the big part I want to get across: Sonic's fanbase is extremely fractured. There's no one "base". Sonic has been around so fucking long now that it's not the argument about "classic" vs "modern" anymore. That was decades ago, that's 20 fucking years ago of argument. There's subgroups, and people who got introduced to things in one media format but not the other ones. It kind of reminds me how people view the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Some people remember the first cartoon, some actually read the original comics and preferred that, some got into it when they were a kid in the 2003 series, or the 2012 series, or even the newest one.
You people bash your heads over the most obvious of answers.
