>>7928879They sold extremely well at the time and everyone and their brother bought multiples of each figure anticipating that the POFT2 would be worth money down the line the way the vintage figures were. And for a time the figures did technically increase in value as they were the only figures you could get, with price guides listing figures at 2 to 3 to 4 times their value. I remember paying $15 for Boba Fett and $12 for a Tie Fighter pilot in the 90's at some comic shop because I couldn't find them in stores.
There were also figures with variations which collectors thought would be big also. The line became increasingly more worthless however as Kenner/Hasbro kept refreshing and updating the line, releasing newer and better sculpted figures. Early on the toys had very muscular builds, because that was a toy trend in the early 90's and Kenner wanted to compete with super hero toys, but eventually moved away from those types of sculpts. This left a lot of collectors with excessive amounts of POFT2 mint in box that they didn't eve want, having bought them to scalp them in the first place.
Only a handful of figures from that era have stood up and are worth money today. The market bottomed out with the rise of higher articulated figures with better sculpts in more recent years. A few of the vehicles are worth snagging despite this, as many are updated vintage vehicles from the 70's/80's toyline.
