Real talk why do you collect toys/figures over statues/pvc? I have a mix of both but I can't decide which I like better overall.

Figures can have any pose you want, but some statues even the cheap ones can have some pretty dynamic cool poses. So why do you collect toys over statues /toy/? I think for me personally it comes down to nostalgia back when I was a kid and those are the figure lines I still collect today.

Do you display your figures, if so how often do you change their poses? I am really bad about changing up poses, I maybe do it once every 4 months or so unless it is a new figure. But once I find a pose I like I usually leave it displayed like that until I get a new figure for the collection to interact with.

Just curious if you do more photography/play or display?

The appeal of toys to me is being able to interact with them. Statues might as well be pictures I save on my hard drive.

This would pretty much be the main reason anybody buys figures over statues.

To me personally (and I would assume a few others too), it's not that it comes down to changing poses and how often but just in the back of the mind it is possible if I wanted to, I can. Statues cannot provide that sort of satisfaction and thus have less of a value to those of us who collect figures.

Sometimes we like to examine the engineering of how a figure achieves its articulation. Sometimes we like to do crazy little things like swapping heads or take humorous photographs, sometimes crossing over other figures. Sometimes it just simply comes down to the satisfaction of owning something that vaguely resembles something we used to play with and now have enough disposable income to buy for ourselves and enjoy.

Both can have their place in a collection but for value for your money I would say figures are better.

Not that anon, but it depends on the figure and collection. My Gundams get moved around a lot, as they have monthly releases (sometimes two) for the RD ANIME line that I collect. Stuff like my figma that I only have 1 of in the series will keep the same pose for up to a year sometimes. I would say that the majority of my collection get reposed every 6 months or so. I do also have some scales, but it's mostly of waifu shit.

I do display. I'll take some pics of my figures in a bunch of different poses if it has a high accessory count or just something that I really like. Most of my figs don't get any individual pics taken, just when they're displayed.

Depending on my options I'm open to either. Used to be much more into articulated toys but statues do have merit. A good quality and size statue sometimes costs a fraction of what the same figure would have cost with joints that don't even give me enough articulation to get into all the poses I want.

In general I have like a set of conditions for this, like if the character is a robot with visible joints then statues of it are a no go, it must have articulation. If it's a complex design or an unusual one with weird anatomy or body shape that doesn't translate well to an action figure then I'm more likely to get a static figure or statue if they're available.

I like fiddling around with them and changing up the display of them. Statues are static in nature. Most I could do with them for holidays is give them hats or little bits of things. But with figures I can have them give each other gifts at Christmas, trick or treat around Halloween or have the display for a cook out during 4th of July, it makes for a lot more fun, more so if your friends and spouse enjoy the fun of what you come up with.

I prefer figures overall, but often when I buy a statue it's because there are no good poseable equivalents. I'm a fujo and they don't often make male figures unless it's Nendos, which I don't like.

I actually prefer states over figures to be honest. I do enjoy seeing some people's displays and do own a few figures myself. To me, it depends what type of figure it is.
Like if it was a transformers figure vs a statue. I'd get the figure, it just seems odd to have a statue that can't even transform. Having Dragon ball statues makes more sense to me since majority of people try and pose like statues to reenact major fighting moment anyways.
