Am I missing something about these. So they turn into boxes...but is that for like storage purposes? Is that the appeal? Like a Transformer that just turns into a convenient form for toyboxes for OCD children?
I'm not trying to be rude about it, I just don't see what's bringing in a few of you about this.

Its pretty simple really. They are really well designed robot animals. Each one has a ton of personality, the right mix of cute and tough. The design limitation that they all have to be capable of transforming into a cube for storage gives them a unified design aesthetic so that the entire series of critters, despite having wildly different colors and being their own creature, fits in and matches up perfectly with the others. I like them out of their cube forms the most obviously, but the fact that they can all transform into a compact form for storage makes it really convenient to collect a ton of them and display them together as a big tower of adorable robot animals. For me personally there is also a ton of heart that goes into these little dudes, and different aspects of the actual animals actually come out through their gimmicks. The bird has a perch and can fold its wings up in a really nice resting position. The Penguins magnetically huddle together to mimic real penguins in the cold. The Spider actually has a retractable grappling line. Its just fun, easy to collect and super appealing to me.

Yeah, he's actually a lot better than I was expecting. He's got great articulation, a decent transformation that bulks him out, and they went the extra mile to make him work standing up or on all fours. I'd 100% bite on a polar or brown bear repaint with a new head.

I still hate the bamboo guns, though. I don't usually feel any particular way about partsforming, but these don't peg in solidly enough to forget about in robot mode so I always feel like I'm gonna lose them.

I was sort of in the same boat, but even without the transforming aspect they're very solid, cute robot animals. I can't remember the last time I've bothered transforming a couple of them, but they're engaging enough on their own. Although it's also pretty cool seeing how many distinct shapes they can get out of the same sized cube, engineering wise.

Shouldn't be massively bigger but i'm sure its got some decent height to it. Keep in mind the original worked the egg, facehugger and chestburster into the cube.The Queen just looks to be the queen and can make more use of the same mass.

Dios were the very first mold, and also the smallest. Every mold after that was bigger and more complex. That's a Dio on the left, and a Moma (which is now the standard Beastbox size) on the right.

Eh, we knew what we were in for, it's not like anyone got deceived. From the very first prototype images you can pretty much tell how it transforms already. That's just the inevitable consequence of a design with a hollow cockpit head that's 50% of its total mass.

I doubt it's possible to do with the current sprue layout, but it would be awesome if Stryker cast the entire upper head piece in clear orange to simulate the visor, and created a custom paint mask for the olive green jaw part.
