Ginyu Special-Squad
Each member of the squad is named for a dairy product. The Special-Squad itself (特戦隊/toku-sentai in Japanese) is named after the Super Sentai series, a genre of Japanese children's television programs that feature teams of costumed superheroes battling monsters. These shows are produced by Toei, owner of Toei Animation, the animation studio responsible for DragonBall, DragonBall Z, and DragonBall GT. Footage from Japanese sentai shows were edited, dubbed, and combined with new footage of American actors to create Power Rangers. Sentai shows typically feature teams of five costumed heroes, each one a different color, who fight using elaborate poses that originated in Kabuki theater. The connection to the Ginyu Special-Squad should be obvious. In his Daizenshuu 2 interview, Toriyama admits this connection, saying his inspiration was his son’s love of sentai shows. The Great Saiyaman also shows a strong sentai influence.

My thoughts on this:

DB Super will finally return after DQ end in Summer 2024!! Unless DQ flops and ends early, like Toriko did when it was replaced by a second season of Kai.

Damn, that would be a monkey paw at its finest. But the collaboration also means that hopefully they don't fuck up the anime music and can keep using the games BGM.

I would kill for a good action figure of Flazzard, one of my favorite villian design together with Imperfect Cell. But it's a pipe dream, we'll be lucky if they release both Crocodine and Hyunkel after the three main characters.

Yeah, I was just discussing this in the SAS thread. dropped about 3500 sheets in 6 months on SAS alone. I still have my old SAS collection in storage (part 3 and a bunch of alt. colorways).

DB SHF and JJ SAS are pretty much all I collect now that SHF dropped Kinnikuman and GSC don't seem to be making anymore Guyver or Berserk figs.

I plan to expand my Attack on Titan & My Hero Academia collection, but there isn't really much to get.

Look like i'll have to go back to collecting One Piece statueshit soon.

if tamashii/bandai actually lets them keep making dragon ball figures, it'll be a serious flex and confidence on their part since basically that'd mean they're confident whatever they put out will be consistently better than DF and DF can test the market for them for which figures are most wanted.

To be technical they should be more or less similar in height since Form 3 simply added more bulk onto Form 2 than when he pumped iron from Form 1 into 2. Form 3 is usually seen crouching, so it's understandable to assume he lost some height.

The same thing happened with Saiyaman and Zamasu, someone gets an early copy of the figure, takes terrible, poorly lit, low quality pictures of it and then everyone freaks out and thinks the figure will be shit. Then the figure comes out and it's really good.

I’m hoping for a Figuarts of Tambourine. If they keep making Dragonball Figuarts, I think he’s a strong contender. In fact I can’t think of another villain from Dragonball that would be chosen over him.. except maybe Emperor Pilaf?

I started getting figures in and wouldn't open them, 'waiting' for some good time or reason to open them, always 'too busy' with something else and/or wanting to wait for a 'special moment' to go in on a toy. But really I was just losing interest. The most fun for me was getting the package in the mail - The rest, opening the figure up, posing it etc., had become a chore to me I realized.
I still collect, but only bother with like 3-4 figures per year. The rest, I don't need.

I only just recently got back into collecting last year and had mostly the same issue. I'd buy figures and enjoy getting them in the mail but as soon as I'd unpack them, I'd just sort of stare at the still-boxed figures and go "Yeah, you look fine like that" and just store them away.

One of my new year's resolutions was that I'd quid this shit and actually play with the stuff I spent money for and so far it's doing pretty alright so far. A few things that helped for me were actually getting something to display them in as well as not being tied to just a single type of toyline.

Simply put, my recommendation would be to try and find a way to shake things up. If you have a bunch of stuff already on display then set some time aside, take it all down and readjust. Lot of fun on my end has been being able to actually pose and display my figures instead of being one of those types of simply stands everyone straight in crowded displays.

I know it's easy to lose hope but don't give up yet. It's good to take some time to reevaluate things and you might just discover something new.

Not best photo, but KO actually physically smaller than real figure, no butterfly joints for shoulders and hip articulation is fake and has very limited side to side movement. Soft features in general, hair color glossy compared to original, SS God head already had paint rub from hair from in the box.

I was planning on seeing if this thing could be used as a cheap way to display the SS God head or maybe see if it could be customized into one of the other armored Saiyans, but it's probably only good to repaint the heads for other forms. Just note that the skin tone is visibly lighter for both Vegeta and Trunks in case you get that idea than the real figures.

Undersized figure due to recasted parts just like Vegeta, elbows replaced with ball joints and general poor joint replacements all around so limited motion, left hip broke pretty much right after review/disassembly. Also the Zen Buu head and effect are smaller than the real one, so won't fit properly.

Yes, the Buu on the right is the Legend Creation KO, one of the seemingly five or so recently available ones.

For Trunks, looks like they tried to hide the smaller parts due to recasting by stretching out the figure with more exposed joints. Scarf is glued down to the body, so the scabbard cannot be pegged in correctly. They actually removed the tearing on the left jacket sleeve, and for some reason the right sleeve has a circular mark as if it was also supposed to have a Capsule Corps Logo. Hips issues same as Vegeta, lot of faked articulation.

1. Only figures released outisde of the Tamashii web shop can be re-released or restocked
2. The only bootleg figures worth getting are the Class E Adventurer Android 17 and the Demoniacal Fit Goku Black.

Depends on the series/set. I mainly collect figma and did buy some characters I didn't even like at all, just to have a nice display/complete set.

As far as Dragonball SHF sets go, I got all Super Broly ones, earth dragonball set, will most likely go for the namek ball set too.

Rest are mostly villains or characters I like.
Though my Saiyan Saga set is.. halfwayish?
Missing the 3 humans. And we all know Krillin's aftermarket prices are retarded.

I only had SS Goku and Piccolo now almost a decade ago, and only really started collecting DB SHF again since Kid Goku showed up (and got a new job).

JoJo for example; I got all of Part 2, but others just the Villain and their JoJo + stands.

Then it's other forms/depictions of the MC, I have a Goku and Vegeta for each form, then side characters. I usually don't get side characters tho. I don't have Krillin/Kid Krillin, Yamcha or Tien for instance, but I'm keeping my eye out for a decently priced Tien now for a setup of the 22nd BT arc. I also didn't get Roshi until recently. I just get what I like and what I can afford in terms of money and space.

Yes, totally, but I pace myself, by not always getting every figure on release, but yeah, I am under no illusion that I won't get it eventually.

Fortunately I only really collect SHF DB and SAS Jojo now and I have very few gaps in the former. I've even taken to getting duplicates just so I can have 2 separate displays with them both in. Like Mr. Satan for example, posed with Cell Games characters, and another with Buu.

Nothing wrong with it, aslong as you have the space and the cash.

Exclusives will never be re-released unless it's as an exclusive variant recolor.

Your options for Majin Vegeta are just try to grab one for a decent price, or wait for a hypothetical SDCC exclusive where he has a darker navy blue body suit more akin to the anime that will likely cost just as much as the original release.

So yeah, as you can see from >>7964608, the line initially flopped in 2009 after the first 3, and everything went exclusive until the 2.0 era (new packaging) which was around the time Super started.

Tbh though, I don't know how often general releases get re-released anyway. I know a lot of them have been regularly re-stocked, but Beerus, SSJ3 Goku & Fat Buu strike me as 3 which are still tough to find on the after market these days.

As far as the webshops, they are never getting a re-release, unless done as a premium color (Cell) or event exclusive (Goku Black) repaint.

Of course, that doesn't mean the 2.0 can't be a gen release (Future Trunks, Cell, Krillin, Androids, Vegetto, Gohan!!) All in desperate need.

Dragon Stars are definitely bigger on average. exception being the huge characters because they dont seem to actually scale them. Broly is a manlet. The Vegeta ones also really blow IMO because they make him as tall as Goku. but for some characters I actually think dragon stars is on par, much better taking price into account. I basically went full autism mode this weekend and splurged on videos looking at size comparisons for all the figures. Their Piccolo is just as good, Cell is probably even better . I have the Beerus dragon star figure and it really is a great figure.

I was surprised to see Beerus listed under general release. I know I saw fat buus still around their release price when I was looking yesterday.

I'll probably play the patient game with the warrior awakening goku. seems like he is a really popular figure and gets restocked still. am in no rush.

Anyone with both of the recent Brolys (Full power vs normal) have any input on which one is better? Looking at them side by side makes me instantly think of the Chad-Virgin meme because of the size disparity(fuck I definetly spend too much time on the internet), but I can't help but like the armor on the normal version and even he dwarfs nearly everyone else.
