Hasblow shit aside, it's just better suited to be a toy and has no other baggage attached. Buy a top, buy a launcher, good to go. Want to gitgud? Buy other tops for their parts, learn to launch shit. Plus, tops work.

Rest of the competition is trash like BattleBands, doesn't work like Monsuno, doesn't succeed like Turning Mecard or Crush Gear Turbo, or is Bakugan. Power creep incarnate.

At least B-Daman requires applied practical skill. But I'll admit that the simplicity of Beyblade makes it infinitely more accessible. B-Daman might have better gameplay, but you need a shitload ammo, targets, and auxiliary equipment, which you can't easily haul to every playground. It makes perfect sense why Beyblade is more popular, but I still prefer B-Daman as both a toy and a collectible.

This. Beyblades are fun but spinning tops in general are an ancient as fuck toy. As a kid just learning how to spin a classic top with the wind-up string also felt pretty rewarding in its own right.

To be fair there are also factors like customization, knowing what beyblade type to use, and launching technique that can go into it to increase your chances of winning.

I have the same problem, living in a small town with mostly 50 year olds or older it's not that surprising. I used to play yu-gi-oh and beyblade against myself because there was nobody else.

The original game of B-Daman was just a basic game of marbles, however, other games were later implemented into the series. Long story short, you make up your games with them.

I used to really be into Beyblade, and I do think it's a good toy game, but holy shit, it definitely has baggage

Did you forget the stadium? And if you actually want to use attack types, you gotta import a Japanese stadium and that can cost a decent chunk of money since it's just a giant piece of thin plastic.

You gotta buy A LOT of other tops to have a collection of top tier parts. You also have to consider parts wearing down (rubber tips) and having to buy replacement parts (just to get a new rubber tip you may have to buy a whole new beyblade that has crappy parts EXCEPT for the rubber tip).

Beyblade has power creep too. They sometimes get carried away with getting people with new releases and make something that breaks the game (pic related).
