RWBY is popular so Medicos figured that a figure would also be popular.
The problem is that the majority of the fans are nearly all 12, bandwagon jumpers or just pretending to like it because they think some of the girls are cute when drawn in 2D and weren't invested enough to buy an $80 figure. It also doesn't help that it apparently turned out kind of shit.

Not enough in Japan that they cared to make more. The show flopped so hard in Japan when they dubbed volume 4 that it effectively killed the franchise there.

Rooster Teeth is also a shitty company that has no credibility anymore. It's known they'll take big bribes from game companies to dedicate segments on their "game review" program to attacking other game reviewers who even give minor critique to games they're kissing up to. That kind of shit hurt their reputation as a company and they never recovered from being outed as paid shills.

I remember way back, before RWBY came out, when I used to listen to their podcast, they answered a question that asked why they didn't do game reviews on their channel. Their answer was essentially that they didn't feel they had the right to criticize a game because it's a subjective experience and that as creatives they understand the feeling of pouring hours of work into something only for people to dismiss it entirely. Even back then I knew that was a bullshit answer because before they blew up as a production company they primarily worked with game studios helping to make game trailers, and if they made reviews they could have potentially lost their business connections.

but then the whole Kane & Lynch fiasco(which should have been what kicked off Gamergate, not Christians angry at some woman for having sex outside of marriage) proved that game publishers will pay a fortune to hype their games with good shill reviews- which is what their review show did, and incidentally the reviewer they attacked was the same man who bashed Kane & Lynch(Jeff Gerstmann) who then accused RT of taking cash to do so.

Gerstmann has also called out Gamergate for having nothing to do with gaming(even he said that it should have been about his firing for being honest), which made them fire back with lies, accusing him of taking bribes to give good scores.

Gerstmann is like Chris Hansen- one of the few honest journalists out there and people don't like that.

I was under the impression that it was huge in Japan for a while. I heard that around the time Kemono Friends blew up so it didn't seem at all far fetched that Japan would sink a lot of cash into a CG trash series.
Either way the figure line was a terrible idea.

1. It's Medicos. They're slow as shit when it comes to providing updates to stuff they've shown off.

2. RWBY flopped in JPN. The genre shift from cute girls fighting monsters (V1-3) to world saving adventure (V4 and beyond) was enough to turn away their audience. Dubbing stopped after V4 and there's been no word since.

3. The figure was overpriced. 8800 yen at retail compared to now where you can get it for 4000 yen or less and I still wouldn't recommend it unless you're a hardcore fan who actually bothers to collect RT merchandise. It's just not that good a figure and feels fragile as fuck compared to a standard Figma or Figuarts.

It's a pity that it seems that Medicos won't complete the set even if the figures aren't as good as figmas/figuarts, but I had always read that medicos' figs are overall crappy when compared to other lines and as was mainly focused on jojoshit I never bother on collect a figure of this line until RWBY were announced

I hope that we get nendos or cu-poches too, but I if the series isn't popular anymore on japland I think it won't happen

At any rate Medicos figures range from decent to awful usually just coasting at acceptable. Also even if RWBY were popular you wouldn't get Poches. That line is pretty much dead.

I did never dismiss Jojo on my post (even thou that series isn't my cup of tea), but if any given toyline only put effort in making figs of one series, that toyline is killing his change to grow and reach a bigger audience
Making figs of RWBY or Drifters (or any other IP) is a step forward in reaching that goal, even if you don't like any of those series.
