I wish it was more acceptable for boys to play with dolls when I was younger so I could play Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street with them.

G.I. Joe figures had lots of neat accessories that a killer could use but Barbie had whole fucking houses for a slasher to stalk through.

I mean if I have a son I’ll probably get him one and just paint it. My friends did that cus their son loves those shitty 1/6 playline superheroes and he wanted a Batcave/Hall of justice kinda deal. One Barbie house off Craigslist, a can of black plastic-bond spray paint, and about five bucks worth of textured scrapbook paper did the trick. If you get one of the heavier wood ones with the apartment building design it’s very modular and absolutely unrecognizable as a Barbie house when painted.

Sometimes reviving a hobby can still be uplifting. Go to yardsales/thrift stores/fleamarkets and pick up a fixer upper just for the hell of it, at the very least you could try to flip it for profit after fixing it up. Maybe you'll enjoy the process.

There's always a niche market for customized stuff if you can make the final product look better than the original. I've never personally tried it with doll houses, but I've custom painted nerf guns and figures and flipped em or gifted them to friends. Like these dollar store dinosaurs that were atrocious neon colors that I painted for my cousin.
