The designs were just ugly.
I don't care much about reboots in the shitty calarts style, I can always watch any of the other old series if I want to, but these didn't translate into good looking toys.
As toys, Raphael and Donatello look retarded; like genetic syndrome retarded, Michaelangelo looks weirdly effeminate, Leonardo is in that weird spot where the design feels excessive but also plain, and all of them have a weird halfway out of Playskool style.

I don't think I'm lashing against >new thing but I can't imagine any kids wanting these.

It's probably a major factor, considering if a company doesn't meet resistance a character could end up race swapped over and over again. You might say they're using their wallet to vote against it. The show itself isn't actually bad' and I found myself entertained. I watched a few episodes, though that April is pure cringe whenever she's on screen.

If she was actually a good representation of the character personality-wise, I think people would have stopped giving a shit. Characters have been race swapped before, and while of course getting shat on by racists for ruining "muh purity", if they can represent the character accurately in other aspects, people eventually shut up about it.

Rise of the turtles April was just shit. Even if she was white people would have found her anniying.

By being playmates their procucts always have been subpar, they get nice sculpts but then those sculpts loose detail on the molding, most of them lack basic articulation and tons of paint, I'm surprised they're still on the business.
