so how are your option's for buying in person, it's all most impossible to find transformers and several other major franchises, even though i don't personally collect them i still think it's weird i never see them. i used to go to a frailly owned store because the owner use to order rider stuff in for me, but he shut up shop to relocate, so i decided to try out the local cape shit store>be 23 y/o, britbong. >all most exclusively stock's lame western shit (star wars, marvel,DC etc) >only gunpla they have are ether master grades or p bandai metallic or clear variations >they un-ironically keep them in a fucking locked case >action figure section is mostly cape shit and star wars >only transformer in then entire store is the new MP optimus which they want £700 for >have a huge manga section, a good chunk of this manga could be consider child porn under UK law, judging buy the cover >middle aged staff member standing around talking to three customers who barley look 16 about which anime girl's he want's to shag, just casually, in the open, as you do >finally find the rider stuff, they advertise as having, just shf wizard land style and drive type dead heat along with some, ghost icon's > wizard and drive going for £23 each, >go to check out, bird in front takes 15 minutes trying to order a statue of the new girl from star wars >take figures to till and pay, ask if they can order in more rider stuff and mention i have been having trouble finding toy's and the staff behind he till look at me like >sorry we only order in "adult collectables" from "approve franchises" ,they say theirs an app on the phone you can get but when i showed them my phone (Nokia 3310) she looked at me with pure disgust and just said "oh well" >just left after that, any way i'm never going back their, so this means my only option is the internet, but any way how do you feel about buying toy's in person, a lot of my friends don't fell comfortable doing it, doesnt bother me though

Them's the breaks around these parts

Ok this is purely American. At target they will price match anything! So I always go to self checkout and harass the cute checkout slaves with price adjustments. Sometimes they just will adjust because they hate you and want you to leave. Walmart is hell and they wont even adjust to their own website sometimes. I never check out at register only at customer service. Ross is great for discontinued toys. I am about 5/10 on getting something there that sells for about 4 times its value online as long as you are patient. Pic related was 8$ sells for $50 online. The trick is you have to be a hoarder that never sells anything otherwise the Ross gods will give you negative karma and give your luck to other people. Otherwise its just Amazon and thinkgeek clearance.

I mean the options are there. Most of the stuff I want can only be found at comic book stores (Figuarts, Storm Collectibles) and LCS overprice them by like a lot. . I would like to support local businesses, but jesus, when Amazon has the same collectible for like $30 cheaper, do you HONESTLY expect me to still buy from you?

>>7977613 even a fucking chinaphone has better specs and cheaper and can do a lot more than a fucking 3310. the only people who still uses brickphones are hipsters or tryhard nostalgiafags

>>7977483 In terms of toy shopping around me, I have:
>Walmart >Target >Gamestop Sometimes Walgreens and Five Below have stuff, but very rarely. Most of my purchases are online, especially overseas. I'm willing to spend the extra money for shipping if that means getting figures I want. Lately I've just been buying the occasional Jurassic Park or Star Wars Black Series figure, otherwise buying indie toys or old Japanese toys.

Anything else around the Bay Area upcharges the shit outta their items, fuck anything in SF, for example
>>7977556 >I would like to support local businesses, but jesus, when Amazon has the same collectible for like $30 cheaper, do you HONESTLY expect me to still buy from you? Fucking this. It's like they forget internet sellers exist, but believe we're still in the 80s/90s, so upcharge everything because "it's foreign" like we aren't smart enough to just look online for the same kit/figure
They always look so offended when I don't buy their stuff too, like holy fuck. Destoroyah vinyl is $50 in SF but $25 online (W/ PRIME SHIPPING), how the fuck do you think you're going to sell that?

I don't even bother with retail anymore, wastes gas and I end up annoyed at wasting that time looking for something. I just order what I want online with relative success. I also have Frank & Sons 25 minutes away. It's essentially an exhibition hall for toys and other collectables here in SoCal. If there's anything I can't find or want, at a mark up of course, I just go there.

>>7977483 >a lot of my friends don't fell comfortable doing it, doesnt bother me though Why would anyone feel uncomfortable buying an innocent toy? You're not buying fucking crack. I bet these are the same people who get embarrassed buying toilet paper in person too, like "OHNOES another human being may see me and then they'll know I wipe my dirty ass after a shit!"
I once walked around the entire mall after first stopping at the anime store I frequent and buying a Mari Makinami dakimakura, already with the pillow inside it, most of her gloriously poking up out of the plastic bag from the store. I didn't give a fuck.
As for the store you went to, fuck them. They are the reason they'll be out of business in the future. Of course, they'll blame Amazon, eBay, et cetera... Find another physical store; one that wants your money, where the employees aren't pretentious douchebags.

>>7978449 my favorite is when girl workers who want to get into your pants feign interest in whatever you're buying.
don't even gotta be paying with them for this to happen.
God, i miss bookstores, because i could spend over an hour there just browsing.
One chick from the instore coffee place used to follow me around just to shoot the shit.
It's going to be sad when retail finally dies within my lifetime.
