Why the FUCK are Lego sets so shit nowadays?
The only original sets are Ninjago and the Phone App shit
Every other set is Harry Potter, Star Wars, and other major brands.

I assume by original you mean non licenses? Well here's the current list: Architecture, BOOST, BrickHeadz, City, Classic, Creator, Friends, Hidden Side, Ideas, DOTS, FORMA, Originals, MINDSTORMS, SERIOUS PLAY, Technic, LEGO MOVIE, Unikitty

That's because it's easier to sell toys when kids already know about the brand. Currently there's 18 original themes and 16 licensed themes, so a nice even split

OG didn't sell, so LEGO got licenses. They sold, so the got more license. OG sets have been incorporated into the CITY line as it sells. Still waiting on CITY Ice Planet Explorers though.

Lego now is honestly some of the best it's been in ages. It has taken a slight dip over the last couple years, but it's still leaps and bounds better than it used to be.

Oh yeah, no, there's some good sets, and some fucking GREAT themes, but the builds did tend to be on the simplistic side.
I've been collecting lego since the late 80s, and I *vastly* prefer modern Lego's approach to builds, meaning they're actually fun to put together, with genuine surprises of engineering. Everything up until the 2000s, with a couple exceptions, was just some variation on "Put the block on top of the other block"

If they brought it back a third time, they'd pretty much have to soft-reboot it again. Bionicle G1 was basically a decade-long clusterfuck of worldbuilding and mythos that hasn't had new content since 2011; if they tried to just resurrect that in 2020 like nothing happened, the target audience (kids) would have no idea what the fuck was going on. They could probably do a couple of limited-release one-off sets to appeal to nostalgiafags, but attempting to resurrect Bionicle without doing a 2015-style reboot would be a trainwreck waiting to happen that would delight a handful of 20-something autists on the Internet and otherwise shelfwarm. A better option would be doing a new theme with an overarching storyline supplemented by a multimedia presence - in other words, Ninjago/Chima/Nexo Knights/what have you.
