It kinda works once you get over the initial shock. Its like a really offbeat dark gothic world. I also think they would have been better served going off the more flowery-looking original artwork rather than the ingame models, but maybe that's just me.

I feel a bit dissapointed with the lack of accesories. He looks cool tho and I'll surely get him since DQV is my favorite, but... I understand that the DQV Bring Arts line is only an apology for the bad movie, but come on, at least a slime would be nice.

Anyway, this year is Chrono Trigger's 25th anniversary. Seeing how they are catering the retro fanbase with FFIX, Xenogears and now Vagrant Story, I have big hopes for some Chrono BA.

Likewise for Parasite Eve- they could make Aya Brea but they lose the PE franchise license and can't use it on the box(big deal, really) but 3rd Birthday was a pile of bad ideas(Aya is dead, her sister's ghost somehow took over her body, big middle finger to the fans, worse than Max Payne 3's stream of franchise insults) and a poorly-received sequel in the end.

You'd expect PE to have a lot more chances at figures considering it actually had 3 games and is based on a novel that did quite well in Japan
Vagrant Story and Xenogears, by comparison, are nothing since they just got the one game release and yet they already have multiple figures
Chrono Trigger has a good shot at getting figures, all things considered

Yes CT is beloved in top ten lists and polls of the last 15ish years and that's it. It's fans are theoretical in the same way that a brief history of time is a best selling book that no one has read. It is just a good RPG and one of the better ones on the SNES.
It isn't one of my personal favorites since I always get bored around the caveman section and combat is a bit too finicky but it is up there with Earthbound and FFVI as one of the most beloved RPGs of the pre-playstation era even if you don't want it to be.

I own and played the game on SNES, and have an account on the Chrono Compendium forums for christ's sake. I played both Radical Dreamers and Cross but apparently all Chrono fans just like it from a top 10 list.

Ahem, the "Square no longer has the rights to Parasite Eve" part mentioned is a big hindrance. Did you not read? They DO NOT HAVE the PE license. The book's author doesn't even like the games. They technically own Aya Brea and anyone else created for the games, but 3rd Birthday was damn near a franchise killer thanks to the shitty plot twist NO ONE liked. The fact it didn't have the PE name on it though means we can feel free to exclude it from canon.

And they could make an Aya Brea but it would be a one-off toy at most for a franchise seen as dead, so they probably won't bother.

Earthbound actually has a legacy, unlike CT. People cosplay, get tattoos, make hacks, and are inspired by it to make their own games that go on to have a large influence and fandom of their own (undertale). That's a fandom right there. CT and EB both sold lukewarm numbers in the NA snes market and EB has had an undeniably larger impact on game culture. People don't even enjoy playing and talking about CT, the very basic requirements of developing some kind of fan following, as evidenced by the ONLY person who is even talking about playing the game >>7990007 admitting that while it may be one of the greatest games of all time he can't even stomach a play through.

A lot of people love CT I just personally don't.
Earthbound had a much bigger impact on gaming culture but that is just because it had so much unique identity. It is hard to be all that obviously inspired by CT since it is pretty standard outside of a cool art style, nice music and the sprites moving around in battle. It was just a competent JRPG and that is enough for it to have the following it does.
What is really important here though is that it is way more popular than Vagrant Story or The World Ends With You and both of those got Bring Arts.

These are mine. I haven't opened the ones in the back yet. For some reason I really like how Bring Arts look, like a mix of a modern figure and one from a decade ago. I have this weird nostalgia for Play Arts because I saw them all the time at TRU as a teenager but never bought any because I grew up on Nintendo and never played FF or KH and thought the characters looked kind of retarded. I regret it now because they were so cheap back then compared to figures nowadays. Anyway I'm getting into both FF and KH now since I have a PS4 and I hope we get some Bring Arts from FF VII, VIII, and X soon.

Bring Arts are like this weird uncharted territory right now because I don't think many people collect them like they do with figma, SHF, etc. It's hard to even find reviews for some of them. I don't have any pics at the moment but I thought 2.0 was better. Paint was overall better, and maybe slightly better articulation. I thought the accessories were overall better as well. I prefer having the weapons to the machine guy. Plus there's the ass torso. That said, if you're happy enough with 1.0, it's not a significant upgrade. I like it more because of the accessories. If you're just looking for a better sculpt and paint job, it's about 5% better.

Brother Nier ruined the whole thing unfortunately. It was never going to sell well but I get the feeling that Nier is a bit more of a cult hit over here than Japan and holding Emil hostage wasn't enough to get people to buy the two pack. Cracked mine open last week. They're not the best of the FFIX releases and probably not worth the rape prices unless you're a complete FFIX fanatic like I am, but they don't feel like they're gonna break or anything. Quina's pretty much a brick as you'd expect, although to their credit they at least included a few different stand options that clip onto the feet to support the weight for different poses. Eiko is tiny and the paint on her clothes is a bit sloppy, but she's well-articulated and includes a bunch of different expressions (which is always a rare blessing in a modern Japanese figure). As for accessories, the paint on the frog is near bootleg-tier, but the moogle is pretty nice, with jointed shoulders/neck and a hole in the back for figma-style stands.

Here's mine, as you can see I'm a sucker for DQ and FFIX stuff... Nier BA are on my want list but I just want Emil and for Kainé most probably I'll just pick a bootleg from Aliexpress since the quality of the original isn't really worth. Also I'm not much into KH but I really enjoyed the first KH back then on my ps2, and since I have Sora and Riku nendos preordered I guess the shadow pack will work well with those two.

I own this specific Grave since those games were my life as a teenager. It's a solid 6/10, certainly wouldn't pay over $100 for it. The sculpt looks great in almost all poses, but due to it being an old figure, some of the joints are super archaic swivels where there should be a ball or something similar. Chains holding the coffin onto him also need to be adjusted for every single pose since they are just actual chains with a single hook on the end. IIRC the bullet belts on mine started cracking as well but I had him in some pretty wild poses for extended periods of time. He just lives in his box now since it looks fantastic as a display piece.
Honestly with GORE I'm just praying that Nightow uses his friends at Kaiyodo to get a new revoltech made. Never going to get a Juji or Billy ever, but just a decent grave to go with Vash would be nice.

I don't know how much he goes for, but I like him. The mold is exactly the same, so if you already have a Sora there it is. It's really up to how much you like Final Form and the Oblivion/Oathkeeper. I've got her and Quina as well. Eiko's good, and can actually hold the flute to her lips properly. Quina's articulation is kinda fucked by their proportions, but there's not really a way around that. The Moogle is alright too, and while not pictured, Quina also comes with a frog.

From the review I saw
Green paint on the dress is kind of sloppy
Articulation in the legs is severely limited
Getting them to stand up without using the stands is painful
Otherwise pretty good and the harp has a hand sculpted onto it already to make it easier to hold and pose

For what I have:

Cloud and Sephiroth are really good. Simple and clean, I dare say. They fun, they solid and have gorgeous look. My only complain is that they slightly out of scale with other Bring Arts.

Sora-Riku-Kairi are kinda... meh actually. I don't like their faces. Also quality of my Riku is abysmal. His legs just fall off every time I trying to pose him. Also his only keyblade arm don't attach to body. And those chubby cheeks...

2B-9S-A2 are interesting to pose, but too fragile. Also broken parts, loose joints, bad paint, etc.

Nier-Kaine-Emil are just pure fun. I like this trio way more than androids. Doesn't have any defects.

Also for 2B is ver.1 > ver.2. Qualitywise.

I'm also have Neku but he's just there. Simple standart action figure.

I've got Sora, 2B 1.0, and all the FFIX releases. Honestly, they're really coasting on the strength of their IP here, and charging prices that don't reflect what you're getting in terms of quality. 2B in particular was a fucking trainwreck; I bought a $15 bootleg from Aliexpress for a second machine lifeform and the quality was near-identical. They've definitely improved substantially with the FFIX stuff, but I'd still only recommend buying any if you can get them for, like, $40-50 as opposed to the $70-ish they ask for them. I really want them to improve because the sculpts and articulation are solid, they have an extremely strong IP catalog, and they're generally better than a lot of recent Japanese figures about including accessories, but so many of them have sloppy paint or the odd loose joint that just hampers things (my Steiner keeps falling over because one ankle is loose).

I second what anon said about the nier bring arts. I had 2B and Kaine and both had terrible paint runoff/application/splotches along with some QC problems. Kaine's hips were fucked due to some glue or paint that got into the socket and made it so tight that it broke.

Jesus Christ this is bad. I'm always interested in reimaginings and reinterpretations of popular franchises, but these are just awful looking. From Cap's weird construction helmet dome and turtle shell shoulderpads to Tony's eyebags and Spidey's way-too-short mouth area, these are just full of bad choices.

If you're having issues with loose ball joints for the legs, stuff a small piece of paper into the leg socket(s) before reattaching it to the hip. That's what I did to my 2A since the half-naked body had loose balljoints. Now it poses just fine due to the added friction.

They did lots of Marvel and DC shit for PAK too and that didn't stop them from still making figures of IPs no one else wanted to touch

You guys need to remember figures of villains tend to sell poorer in Japan. A lot of folks are more interested in the heroes and having them to represent the series than the villains
There's exceptions of course, like Sephiroth, who has a huge following but generally speaking it's riskier to make villains, especially lots of them than it is to make entire teams of good guys which is basically what they're doing with KH Bring Arts right now
Still, I'd be surprised if they don't make at least one version of Ansem at some point in the future

I have all the Xenogears and FF9 ones. I can safely say none of them are worth the price they go for and the only reason I've kept buying them is how much I like the games and know there will never be any better figures. It pains me to pass on the DQ11 ones because its easily the most fun I've had with a game in half a decade but these figures are just too expensive for what they are; they're like neca quality shitty plastic and sloppy paint but double the price.

Not him, but havent had any issues with my set. The paint is honestly better than recent DB figuarts I've gotten that only get a piss stain for shading these days. Where these really suffer is articulation, they're just kind of a bitch to pose around. If you're a big fan of FF9 it can be worth it, but they definitely should have been priced cheaper.

Yeah the articulation seems to favor sculpt over posing which sucks. Steiner is actually the best one since he's the only one with swivel cut joints as his armor hides them. The ones that really suffer are Freya and Quina who have horrendous arm articulation. Amarant will likely be just as bad as them given his bulk.

Mine came in fine, and saying that they're NECA quality is severe hyperbole. They feel more fragile than they should for something as expensive as they are, but as said, these are going to probably be the best FFIX figures we get for at least another 20 years. I have all of the released ones so far, the worst ones are Zidane and Dagger. Steiner and Vivi are totally fine if you're willing to make that financial jump.

Yeah, he was. Nightow invented the Revolver joint, for the purpose of his Assemble Borg idea. But before that could get off the ground, Kaiyodo ended up using the joint for the Revoltech line. This is likely due to the difficulty of selling a fresh IP with no media tie-ins, compared to a line of recognizable anime characters and mecha. So Assemble Borg got shelved for a while, presumably until the Revolver joint could prove its worth and make the Revoltech line a success.

However, I'm not sure as to Nightow's actual employment status within the company. He already owned his own toy company at the time (Toy Tribe) so I'm uncertain whether this is considered a collab or if he was officially an employee.

As far as I know the tits aren't removable so by missing chest they either mean the upper torso piece where the head and arms would attach to or some dude just carved out her tits

Varies heavily from figure to figure. Every copy I've seen of A2, for example has loose hip joint. Paint being sloppy also happens on a lot of figs
But then some turn out great and with little to no issues like Cloud and the guy from World Ends With You
Best bet with the line is just wait and see how the character you want turns out before getting it. Not like they get too hard to find or expensive in the aftermarket, so far. People tried to do it with 2B but they gave her a 2.0 and now a reissue so I doubt she'll ever properly get to a point where she can be reliably scalped

Yeah? I don't know, I think the FFIX figures are pretty much as good as I could hope for. Are they expensive, yes, but name me one figure that isn't. They look great though.
