i have static brushes and make up brushes, but i still prefer the cheapshit camel/hoghair because it does a good job at everything.
i can brush my shelves quickly with it because of how wide it is.
It dusts my books and bd/dvd/cds better than a swifter or those dust wipes, because the bristles can get into the grooves and paper better than the coarse weaves on the wipes. It also gets into tight areas where my hand would get problems going into without taking everything out.
As mentioned, it is delicate enough to get into every crevice of a figure without damaging the paint on models. Make up brushes have a problem with that, as the brushes are so fat that you need to work a little bit more into crevices and nooks.
If you worry about damage, it's synthetic bristles you need to watch out for.
