I think it's more fun to ignore scale and just imagine giants and mini people coexisting with middle size races.

It really depends on the toyline. Smaller scale works for vehicle and playset heavy lines, bigger figures allow for more detail and articulation. 5-6 inch seems to be what most people want though.

When I was a kid, 5 inch was king, but then I got into Star Wars and G.I. Joe, and the articulation and vehicle compatabilty, along with room to store it all made it a better choice. I'm happy with either, but I really just want whatever franchise it is to be all in one scale so I can world-build with lots of characters.

1/12. It’s big enough that it can include some nice bits of articulation and detail without having weight issues from being too big and keeping costs reasonable. Well, reasonable until recently, I guess. We’re definitely getting slapped around price-wise nowadays.

That's what I do. Especially usefull for picturying my fantasy novel trying to scale an ogre's hands versus an dwarf's head, for example.

1/12 is the current standard, being most common and works well with eraser toys or mystery box accessories

1/18 was the old standard during the Marvel Universe days, but works better with Transformers or other perpetual-underscale toylines

I like 1/12th the best for standard human(oid) action figures. But it really depends on the line and I've never really felt the need to keep to one scale. And with my collection being mostly robots and monsters scale doesn't matter all that much
