So I was looking for some old figures to sell and I found my NECA Leonidas.

He’s been sitting in a box for 8 years and her seems to be really sticky. I don’t know if it’s a chemical reaction from the soft cape or just the type of paint they used.

Anyway I can clean this without damaging the paint application?

It's probably plasticizer leaking out if it's been in a box for that long. Washing it off with dish soap should take care of it and it won't hurt the paint.

I've had figures in storage get sticky over time and sometimes soap and water simply isn't enough. Goo gone works but I wouldn't let it linger for too long. And of course thoroughly wash with soap and water once you've let it sit for a couple of minutes.

I don't doubt that but I guess it depends on the figure or the paint because it's never happened to me, but I make it a point to never leave it sitting for longer than 5 minutes and to wash it off well.

this happens to many NECA toys from 2008 times.
My pirates of the carribean CptTeague also became sticky in some parts and collected shit ton of dust + bended his legs/feet

But yes, the leaky plasticizer will return, eventually. There's no stopping the degradation of the soft plastic at this point. Sorry.
