I find it strange how different Kots is compared to onell. The Mushi, the geodraxus, even the Spymonkey stuff fits together it feels. Ain't nothing wrong with it, I think some of these guys look cool as fuck. Gots me a couple pizza dudes coming for a test drive. Hope they're worth the price

I dunno if I'd say they're more similar to Onell than Geodraxus or Spymonkey. In engineering, maybe, but in aesthetic they all look really different.

TGB mafia and Callgrim are the only Glyos lines that almost seamlessly fit with Onell.

It's so hard going through these to try to pick some for sale because I know any I get rid of would be hard to replace. It's not like a mainline toy where i can always hit up ebay if I regret getting rid of it. I've already got a separate pile of ones to sell, but I think I'm going to make another pass to try and make some hard decisions about what I really want to keep.

Honestly I'd probably go with the hyperphase stuff instead. Having the joint set is going to make a big difference. If you want to mess around with building, that is. Otherwise, the Kirallius guard is just a nice looking figure to have if you really just want to test the water.

To be honest? Nowadays it's usually directly to people I've sold to before or established people in the Glyos community via DM/email. It's kinda insular, and sucks, I know, but the scalping situation has just gotten so bad and I've literally gotten burned before by people buying from me and then immediately flipping the figures on eBay for twice the price.

Stay away from eBay unless you are desperate for a specific figure that's up for auction.

The Discord and Facebook groups both have sales pages that have really fair prices and are pretty active. A lot of the time figures will be sold for retail with no markup, even years old figures, or discounted for bigger lots.

I always browse those places for casual purchases. I never check eBay directly, I have alerts set to email me if the one or two grails I want show up there. Otherwise I'll be tempted to pay $50 for a single neat Traveler or something, then see it on Facebook a week later for $12...

It's the only active Discord and always has been, and it's fine. A splinter group left and tried to make another Discord cause they got upset about rules being made about content in the first one, but it never took off.

It's not just about part counts. There's factors like volume, margins, schedules, and labor to account for.

As his pipeline has improved his costs and prices have come down a bit. With the means and relationships he's built in the last two years alone, J's been able to streamline his path to production molds and has put out a lot of new figures in that time.

Building up his own palette of parts, he's getting to explore a new creative space in a way few others can.

He's not some snooty art jerkoff out to get that fuckin hypebeast money, he's an artist that's learning to wield a factory as his medium.

If you don't want to pay $22 for a toy man with a cape, bene. Nobody's making you.

Not really, but it rubs the wrong way when someone says that about something they had a hand in creating. I think a lot of the reason people love Matt so much is not only because he gave us Glyos, but because it's so clear he's in it solely to satisfy his own imagination.

I like Glyos, but I don't like the current design and I'm sure not gonna pay $50 for a hoodie just because it has a Glyos design on it. I'm a whore for Fujifilm's X series cameras. The new ones are pretty pricey, the big flagship cameras usually being around $1300 at release and their "lite" versions around $900. That said, the aftermarket is pretty generous and you can get an X-T20 (which is pretty damn good) for like $350 without a lens. The X-T4 is also about to come out in a month which means almost every camera before it will probably become even cheaper as people try to unload theirs to save up money.

Alternatively I have a Canon PowerShot SX530 and its comparably shit but it's better than a cell phone and is only $150ish. The one downside is you can't change the lens so no true macro capabilities, which can be a problem if you're taking pictures of something small like Glyos (I'm not sure how much you know about cameras, but generally if a lens isn't designed for macro it can't focus super up close to things)

I've toyed with the idea because I think the main point of this toyline is part swappability, and it would be cool to build up a stable of parts. But it's just too unpredictable. CyMa was basically a joint effort between the two. I was surprised to learn how close Matt and Jesse are. They physically hang out together and talk glyos.

Because there's virtually no market for it. I believe it would sell if brought back in a big way by Onell, but you have to consider that the majority of people buying glyos now weren't even around back when they were selling vinyl. It's been what, 6 years since vinyl was being sold in any kind of significant manner, with just occasional releases here and there since then and most of them from other companies like Galaxxor and Zullbeast. At this point everything anyone cares about on the secondary market are more recent things: toypizza and KotS, battletribes, and onell releases from the past couple of years.

Fandoms care about what you tell them to care about. You don't see a big market for detail line figures anymore, or even hear many people whine about it anymore. The figures from that era have come and gone and so are the people who were passionate about them. They either don't buy anymore or are fine with buying newer stuff.

I think the reason vinyl still gets attention is a variety of reasons: it's so different from anything else that glyos has or had, it looks fucking awesome and you have a handful of fairly prominent glyos builders like maxepadd and rez that still showcase vinyl builds even in the current year.

But without an actual push from Matt or another company, what's the point?

Vinyl is over because Matt doesn't want to do it anymore. It's too expensive and carries too much risk for too little return. Matt likes to keep things affordable as possible which means if a rig were released in the next drop it would be $32 and have the least paint of any rig ever. So you'd be paying more for something that looks worse than it did 8 years ago. The profit margins on vinyl are also considerably less than on figures. So looking at a drop from this perspective, they like to keep them at a certain number of figures- this way it keeps things affordable on both ends- Onell can afford to run say 10 different figures and there are certain collectors that can afford to get one of each and in a few days or weeks most everything sells through and the cycle continues. If vinyl is introduced it's more expensive, so if this theory is correct it would take up 3-4 figure slots of a drop due to its cost. So now there's less toys to go around, less variety in the drop, and less profit on Onell's side of things because the vinyl is so fucking expensive in the first place. If vinyl were to theoretically be released on a regular basis again, this means each new drop would become more and more dangerous and tight when it comes to profits, there would be less room for experimentation, new molds, new tampons, etc etc etc. All because a handful of people are whining that they want more of the same molds that people barely bought 8 years ago.

Vinyl is BTFO by Matt, by cost, by the factory, by the consumer of glyos themselves that don't like to spend more than $20 per item, by literally everything.

Is this normal? Being disassembled and reassembled (you know, the play feature of Glyos) has resulted in the plastic tearing. This happened to a Rift Killer of mine too, where the port literally just cracked. I don't handle these that roughly and even then it shouldn't be a problem for something made of solid PVC and designed for handling.

I have a spare of this figure in particular so I guess I shouldn't be too concerned, but it's probably gonna happen again seeing as the mold is the same.

Fuck, same problem on my Frankenslice too. I'm gonna coat these in some flexible glue and see if that helps stop degradation. It's harder to see but it's that little white pinhole at the elbow.

I could deal with one of them but I never understood why it was a full set. I mean, it's not like there aren't cool wrestling suits, and we still never even got a Luchador mask head, which is arguably the best use for a wrestling themed mold set.

I do hope one of these days we get maybe a more sci fi set. Warlords of Wor kind of scratches that itch, but we still don't have straight up retro robots.

Chrome cost more than regular paint apps and has a high failure rate which requires additional pieces to be ordered, Jesse was originally going to raise the price on both of the Mikros sets and include these with them, these were intended for the EPD set where the silver chrome was intended for the BLT set. Instead he decided to sell them as a separate item so that people could decide whether or not they wanted to pay the premium to upgrade them or any classic knight for that matter.

Other glyos makers would be left with the same sort of choice if they made abs parts that had to be chromed in a similar fashion.
