From what I saw he was more so angry about the fact that hasbro, who upto this point had focused their entire output on commercializing nostalgia, had seemingly gone out of their way to make Joe as unrecognizable as possible. Which is a pretty apt opinion when you get down to it. They're prepared to deliver high end, collector oriented, super accurate figures of characters from star wars to marvel and transformers. Why not just deliver on the sunbow figures first?

I'm a pretty passing fan of the series (I've seen the movies and know of them from the IDW crossovers with TF) but even I recognized Duke, Scarlet and Snake Eye before seeing that it was a new line. Far from unrecognizable, and as a passing fan I kind of dig the updates.

That's just objectively false. Minor changes to palette and costume designs is not remotely close to "unrecognizable". I get not liking the changes, but anyone even passobgly familiar with the old Joe cast would have absolutely no problem identifying the characters.
