If it's meant to be kept and you can easily close it up, I keep the boxes. Especially if there are a million accessories. I recycle things like Lego boxes or clam shell packaging like with Hot Wheels.

If it’s a Figma or Nendo with lots of pieces then I keep it. It if it’s like that Hot Wheels box then no it’s straight in to the recycling. I have a couple of Funko Pops and I got rid of those boxes and I told a collector that and they stsrted foaming at the mouth. They ain’t worth shit regardless if in their box or not.

I have purposely bought a mint condition toy still on card specifically because I wanted to open it and play with it. I have done this multiple times, and the butthurt it generates amuses me almost as much as playing with the toy in question.

Toys are made to be played with, collector crybabies who have zero interest in the play value of toys can all go neck themselves.

Only if the I'm worried about the toy's durability when transporting it during moving or something (in which case I'll also keep the plastic and such meant to secure it in box) or I find the packaging really cool. Otherwise, I try to find something more space-efficient for storage, because toy boxes are generally much larger than exactly needed just for storing the things.
