MPs have a very distinct, and in recent years, hyper-focused design philosophy of cartoon accuracy, to the point that most of the recent molds turn the Transformation into needlessly complicated bullshit just so it can match some physics-defying model from a 30-year-old toy commercial. They've also gotten crazy expensive and are notoriously prone to serious breakage issues on certain molds.
Personally, I used to collect both and mix them as I saw fit, but I haven't bought an MP figure in over 3 years at this point, they've just been so pricey and unappealing. That said, I also haven't bought a ton of retail/classics figures, either, but I'm an outlier in the TF fandom; most are plastic hoarders that just indiscriminately buy everything and cram them, shoulder-to-shoulder, on a dusty shelf in brick poses for the rest of their lives.
