Because they are Gashapon (put money in, turn a knob, out comes a toy) toys and aren't sold individually. When Hobby Search of HLJ sell them they're selling them randomly from the assortment, so technically you could buy 10+ and not get the one you want, or buy 1 and get it, etc. Amiami at present isn't in the gacha game.

They have some articulation, but its pretty limited.

I have Ensemble G-Self and the tiiny clear parts keep falling off, I'll have to glue them on.
I heard Kampfer also has tiny parts that easily comes off too.
I like it but it's kind of annoying.

Converge offers a bit more detail (panel lines) and guarantees you get the unit you want. That and they don't lock fan-favorite suits behind the Premium-Bandai paywall.

You're talking about the knee guard parts, right? Did you maybe put them on backwards (left clear part on right leg)? My G-Self clear parts are all solidly in place.

As for Kampfer, he's a solid boy since he doesn't use any extra "parts" for color separation.

Only ensembles that have parts that easily fall off, in my experience, is heavygun's side leg thrusters (only 1 of 4 is loose so maybe i was just unlucky) and ReGz's antennae.

Official blog post said that it's been delayed from end of March to end of April now. But they also stated that this delay is more to increase the quality of the product, and less about Corona (although this did say it did factor in).

As added info, they also said that they hope to be able to make the minor bots too but...only if the series is able to do well. This makes sense as it might be the first gashapon to exceed the "coin limit". Japan's biggest coin being the 500yen and this set costing 800yen, though you still put in five 100yen coins for the 500yen capsules....

If I had to guess, it'd be greed lol. But if I had to logic their pricing decision, it'd probably be a mix of parts-count/mold, size and possibly I.P licensing. Size-wise, Metabee is 8cm tall (just to the top of its head, not including the horn protrusion!). Parts-count wise, the arm alone consists of the sholder, upper arm, forearm and hand (along with the elbow and shoulder joints).

Given how the same blog consistently pleads "we're seriously at our budget limit on this unit guys!!!" for their MS Ensemble releases, the increase in size (the gundams are ~6cm tall) and otehr stuff, I could see how they settled on 800yen to turn a profit (probably minimal profit?)

Never rolled those skeleton dudes, so can't really comment on the plastic quality. As for the animal gashapons, im assuming you're referring to the dangomushi and turtles, while big, are quite hollow.

Didn't mention anything about release dates in their post for the crab. However, I think it might have been pushed to April too, given the "release dates" Im seeing on sites that are selling it.

Speaking of the crab, anyone else bummed that its just...grey? I always thought the pics were just prototypes, but...it looks to be a solid one-color surfacer-looking crab...

800yen still feels like a big jump. The robo skellies are also bigger. The plastic of the regular robots from Epoch are much more rubbery than the skelly variants, and I doubt that accounts for the 500yen difference.

Another possible factor could be mold re-use potential. The robot skellies remain identical, just having different accessories in their new releases, and the animals all get quite a few repaints (and if we're talking the dangomushi they have gotten a ton of repaints), whereas besides re-releases, there doesn't seem to be much potential re-use for Rokusho's parts, for example.

But, to not even have a colored sample for promo ready the month its supposedly due out makes me think otherwise...Maybe they think they can make it in time since it'll be 90% white..?

I found a Japanese review with pictures that it can be done, just no mention of how since the head is glued together so it's not as easy as the Zaku Kai where the top of the head can be removed.

It looks like the Gashapon Senshi Line is going to keep using the 6th slot for weapon+expansion set starting from the 11th in the series.
Kind of sucks but hey, that's the price of extra articulation, I guess.

It's been delayed by Corona. Was supposed to be out in March. You haven't missed the boat yet. There will also probably eventually be a crab series, there's literally no way they're making a mold as a one-off, just like the lizards in the OP. I would suggest not paying too much for it if you don't get the chance to grab it at a good price unless you really like the colourway.

What's hard to understand about it? These things get produced once and then that's it, so of course aftermarket prices will go up if the product was a popular one.

Dangomushi has had tons of series so far though, so there's always a chance to get a mold you missed in a different color. So as long as you aren't picky colorwise, you will get one someday.

Yeah I've had no idea where to really find them cuz I'm not sure how to search for them, like in English or Japanese. Mostly what came up was like eBay which is always marked the hell up. My frens arrived. I kinda wish the flatter one were a lil bigger, but it might be the same size as the niggabug, and the flatter body just makes it seem smaller. The isopod came with it too, and def thought that one was gonna be bigger

This could probably be re-purposed by switching out the fruit with some smaller food items, and the idol. The alter piece comes separate from the cabinet, so it would probably look pretty impressive with a smaller figure.

Are netsuke figures suitable for use as key ring charms? I'm thinking of getting some of these gashapon fox souls, they're labeled as netsuke and have a strap attachment but I'm not sure how well they would hold up on keyrings. They're fully painted and I don't want the paint to come off or scratch knowing they're going to rub against the keys inside my pockets. Also the bottom tip and the spirit piece on the head look pretty fragile, especially since it's all clear plastic these parts look like they could break off easily if I'm not very careful.

I looked into netsukes in general and I still don't have a good idea of where they're supposed to be hanged, their original purpose of belt pouch holders seems obsolete now and I found no examples of their use in modern times but they're still widely produced with modern designs so I dunno.

I think this is a fair price for the licensed ones and I hope they keep adding more. The sculpts are better than DTA for the same price and you're getting multiple faces. Not that DTA isn't also fun, I just like this line better and hope it sees the same level of success.

Netsuke are still made but mostly ornamentally. People use them as phone or bag keychains pretty much. And a lot of "modern" netsuke I see are made in the style of the old ones, ie, minimal paint as they are either made of/made to look like wood or ivory.

Stuff like the fox souls are just plastic keychains, dunno exactly what their connection to netsuke is. They don't seem to have any spiritual or even stylistic connection there. Anyway though, what I can tell you is that yes, the paint will inevitably wear over time. You gotta learn to accept that, nothing in life stays forever. You can minimize it by hanging them from a backpack or phone case or something less scratchy than keys. As for your concerns about breakage, I own a few of those and they're a relatively soft PVC. I don't think they'll break easily. It's far more likely that the screw will tear out of their heads if they're stressed too hard (this is how I lose most of my straps).

Thanks for sharing. Crab is look nice. The fact that this series (or splintering off into their own series) is expanding to Crabs, Turtles, Wasps, and that beautiful lizard in the OP, is really great. Here's hoping we may get mammals too, Pangolin, Armadillo, they would make for some nice figures. Before the lizard I might say the design would be too complex to translate, but it seems like it could happen.
