When was the last time we got Resident Evil figures?

All the neat monster redesigns from the remakes and not a single action figure lineup in sight. It feels like it's been forever since I've seen Resident Evil toys.

Eh it's grown on me. While I absolutely love the original Frankenstein patchwork look, I've come to appreciate the new design as a mutated humanoid stretching out of its human skin (hence the stitches/staples keeping him "together").

Even past Nemesis, we've gotten neat redesigns of Mr. X and Birkin.

The character models for the recent games are just hideous, I don't think Capcom knows how to use facial capture properly
As far as monsters go I guess redesigns are fine but original designs are more iconic, have nostalgia factor and have been around for decades so even really casual fans or collectors would recognize them and potentially get them

But we've gotten fairly decent figures of the original designs from Palisades, Moby Dick Toys, even NECA. I still own a lot of them (Mr. X, Nemesis, etc.) hence why I'm asking for new stuff with all the new games coming out.

Like I said, as far as monsters go I can go either way but I do think it would be safer and more profitable to go with the classic designs first
But none of it matters, really, Capcom really doesn't seem to care about licensing out for toys like they used to so it's unlikely we'll get anything

It definitely works for that! Not my ideal for Nemmy, but I can totally see it and would have been all for it for a different monster. But it's not like I'm going to be paying close attention to his face while I'm fighting him.

The neca line died for reasons unknown, it sold really well, shelfwarming Jills and zombies not withstanding. Sold well enough to get 2 series and a reissue of both series, as well as a resident evil 4 line and a resident evil 5 line. Biggest issue was the lack of articulation, and face paint apps being shit. I don't remember them saying anything other than , "capcom is hard to work with".

NECA makes the dumbest shit that nobody wants in video game, like when they stopped the L4D figures at Boomer and Smoker because nobody wanted a fat zombie and a zombie with aids for a head.

Like, the RE5 line didn't sell, sure, fine. But the RE remake figures sold well enough to make them multiple times, if they were just as well made as their Preds they would've made a mint. Their Bioshock line sold great because they were good looking and well articulated.

Only the old companies have handled old RE like mobydick, toybiz, and palisades. The old toybiz designer actually showed up here a lot back in the day, posted his old concept arts.

There's a lot of unofficial ones. There's 1/6th Nemesis that came out about last christmass that's fully potable and about 15 inches tall. I haven't seen it for sale though, thing sold out.

This can happen with seamless silicone bodies. Bent limbs often have this weird bunchy look to them. Looking at her left arm legitimately makes me want to puke, I've broken a fair number of bones and this brings up that queasy lightheaded feeling of looking down and seeing your arm twisted in a way that it shouldn't be able to.

And the RE3 remake one...well, it frankly just looks like a completely different person. There is nothing in the features that looks like Jill to me. I also have no real problem with a more practical outfit but I wish they'd stuck with something period-appropriate, as has been pointed out in the past, this just isn't a look that people were sporting in 1998. This is a much more mid-to-late 2000s look.

The Worldbox one? It honestly looks so bad and off-model to me. I'm a big proponent of poseability, but in this case, I might actually say go for the 1/6 statue instead, which at least has a great sculpt that looks properly like Nemesis.

It's a shame because looking at concept art (pic-related), it seemed like they were trying to marry her RE1 and RE3 designs by going for a "casual" cop look with the bright blue tank top, but with the RE Engine, the colors and details end up getting washed out. Not to mention the scanned faces of the model can be hit or miss depending on the lighting/animation.

Becca came in mostly good condition save for one of her hands not being properly placed on whatever kind of connection it’s supposed to have. See, that glove also extends over the wrist and like that anon said it got all bunched up and I cannot for the life of me get it right. Her neck should be fine though, I think I just suck at posing. Jill unfortunately was unluckier because she came to me with an already broken ankle joint and her foot is stuck in her boot and I dunno what do about that either. Even with the problems though she is pretty cool I guess but I would’ve loved to get Jill with her STARS outfit but I missed the train on that too. On the bright side, they seem to be in scale with that Soft Statue Nemesis at least.

What really kills me is that since I love the series and these things *mostly* look good it makes me want more but looking at the prices for the remaining figures (specifically Chris, Leon, and Claire) hurt too much for what might not even be a quality item. I really wish someone worth a damn would pick up the line and give it the love it deserves.

I would love any RE figures, but I don't think it's going to happen. RE2 remake came and went and we got nothing. I was honestly surprised we didn't get an Nendoroid of Jill Valentine. They did the same thing with Borderlands, they made the Psycho and Claptrap even though nobody likes them, teased Zero and Salvador, and then we never got anybody else. In RE5's line we got Sheva Chris and the fucking executioner from stage 1, nobody bought Sheva and the executioner and we never got anyone else. Besides L4D I'm sure there's other lines they did this with, but whenever a line for vidya fails it's usually because they make an out of touch boomer decision where they go

When just a cursory google search for 15 minutes would've told them what they needed to know to make a successful line.

This is honestly why the Bioshock line did so well, because the big daddies WERE the figures people wanted and they just also happened to be on the cover art.

But they came pretty damn close to it. RE7, RE2, RE3, DMCV and Monster Hunter World renewed faith in Capcom for a lot of people. Before RE2 came out, I said I would never buy anything from Capcom, if the game was shit. I lost that much faith in the company. Do you remember the path Capcom was going down at that point? All of their major franchises were down the shitter. RE, DMC, Megaman and Street Fighter were all at their lowest point.

I'll argue for RE5. Sheva, Chris, and one big monstrous character is a pretty sensible starting lineup, even if it didn't work out. It would have been bizarre to start with Jill and Wesker, and they're pretty much the only other marketable characters in the game. Most monsters are either forgettable or human Majini. And the latter would have been a baaaad look, seeing as Capcom was already under fire for what many perceived as a black people shooting simulator.

Chris and Wesker would be solid choices, Sheva was a bit nebulous, but acceptable for wave 1. Nobody cares about executioner majjini, but everybody likes Jill, and Chris. Wesker is turbo money and NECA never made his ass.

Hell they could've made HUNK again if they felt liek it, he was only in RE2 but sold gangbusters in the RE1 wave and is still pretty expensive last I checked.

It's what I'm talking about, they didn't do the bare minimum research, and it cost them money.

I still don't care much for it. I think what really doesn't help is the face. Jill had pretty consistent faces from RE1 to 3 and REmake to RE5. I get that it's a reboot and Capcom is all about using real scanned faces now but that's all the more reason to maintain other recognizable elements of the character. RE3make Jill has the blue top and...that's it. They couldn't even bother giving her the sweater around the waist, they just turned it into an undershirt instead
And of course no skirt or long boots so just give her pants and lots of survival pouches like every female action game protagonist from the past few years
Worst part for me is the probability that the franchise will stick to these designs into the future. If there's returning characters in RE8 they're just going to be scanned actors that look weird and overall designs and clothing that only have a tiny element from the old ones or are just painfully generic
And to keep it /toy/ related, that's bad because means even less chances of figures of the originals

Nobody wore layered tanks like that, 90's was mostly really baggy stuff, or skin tight ripped things. Nobody was wearing half laced up boots either that started mid 00's and became more popular now. Boots in the 90s were big chunky boots more like doc martins if anybody wore those. That's one of the world's greatest mysteries. Signs seem to point to her not being an actress at all, but just some white girl(supposedly she was only 16) the people behind the game saw on the streets of Tokyo, tossed a few bucks to, and filmed for a night. I know what you mean but there's a lot of horrible voice actors who still put themselves out there and try growing a fanbase. Lots of VAs from low-budget horror titles on Dreamcast and PS2 are proud of their work and even update their own IMDB pages. I think most people would react positively to the original RE cast coming out and sharing stories about their time working on the game

The argument was that she was in a combat situation, so why was she wearing trendier 90s cloths in the summer heat. These people never played the game though, as Jill wears that stuff because she had no time to react to the outbreak and Nemesis, it starts off with her waking up from a hang over and her apartment exploding.

The new game shuffles event so she's on the ground helping civies out before then, so she probably wouldn't be wearing the same clothes. But I also doubt she'd be wearing this in that case, instead of her STARS fatigues.

Jill I believe was mentioned in a similar way, but regardless she starts with her apartment blowing up. Presumably, she only had her civvie clothes with her in her apartment since her police stuff was probably in her locker. Apartment is on fire, gets dressed, apartment explodes, she's out on the street.

Is that mentioned in the journals somewhere? The beginning scene doesn't look like her place blows up, she just causally gets prepped and walks out. Could be assumed she ran out of food or something but it didn't look like an unexpected emergency forced her out.

Right after this, her apartment building explodes, it's the firs thing that happens in the game. It's a moment they recreated in the re3 trailer, to an extent. But I don't know how they changed the context.

I don't see how they could, Resident Evil has always been a merchandise mover, it's one of the core franchises that put hot toys on the map, one of the pioneer /v/ figs that showed games could sell more than games, was one of the first high end collectors toys before hot toys was a thing (you'll remember this if you had psm and read the occasional toy adverts), and it's one of their best selling modern franchises today.

Maybe it's the opposite, and that they want hot toys money for the license, so guys like GSC only bought it for the sds because they knew they would sell well enough to make the money back.

I always thought the Game Cube/PS2 to Wii/PS3/360 era style of graphics were the best. I love the Chronicles style, everything looks consistent.
I've always wondered since CV came out on Dreamcast originally, could we have gotten REmake/0/4 style graphics for CV if they had more time during it's development? Dreamcast was part of the same gen as GC, PS2 and Xbox.

check out the books, it gives a little more context to the opening. Basically she wasn't planing on leaving right then and even gives herself some shit for the skirt and tube top being unfit "Zombie hunting gear". Going back for some weapons and intel her place is blown up be the book series over arching villain (exclusive to the books but doesn't skew the books so bad that he couldn't have been "in the background") I think the plan was to join Chris over in Europe.
