Doom doesn't need explicit lore, it's fine enough with a barebones plot, it's not like people care about the lore in these new ones anyway.
And be honest, the designs are mostly trash. The game is just so fun that you don't care about the lore and the designs though. Hell, the gameplay is so good that it almost makes me like the Slayer's design.
