Back in highscool/college, I think there were people in my class that called my toy collection silly and childish, but I genuinely didn't give a crap about people's opinions so I never took it as an insult, just an offhand comment.
I ended up turning some other classmates into toy collectors after that.

Literally never. I've taken friends, gfs, and even acquaintances with me to the toy aisle at Walmart or Target if there was something out that I wanted and we were going there anyway.

People have asked questions about it, but nothing I've found flat out disrespectful or anything.

The absolute worst I get is my dad telling me I'm wasting money. Which I mean, he's not wrong.

I think it depends on the crowd, being friends with artfags and having a collection of gatcha and vinyl is pretty normal.

With so many people becoming boring fags with no hobbies or creative outlets I think girls generally are way more open to the idea of doing /toy/ shit in recent years. I've always just said that assembling kits is relaxing and I like the designs from 90s cartoons when people see a display case of Figure-rise models and HMM kits.

Most people don't know about it. Of the few that know my mom gives me shit since it's a large collection (which is fair), but my dad uses my toy hobby to make ridicule me in front of friends and strangers. In private, he insults me for collecting and for being a man child.
