Is there a reason Asian countries like Singapore and Malaysia get pretty much all figures that come out in a line, including online and Japanese exclusives? I always see stores there just stacked with so many figures I’ve never even seen in America. I’d spend so much if I went to one of those countries for sure.

The distributors in Asia have more conrtol over their items than the retailers, unlike the West where it's the other way around. Some retailers might even be selling on a consignment basis (aka renting the shelves)

The benefit of this is that they can push the newest lines onto the shelves and keep them fully stocked, if there are leftovers they can simply be back-stocked to the distributors.

The downside is that the prices are static across the region, it's "MSRP" in the most literal sense (Manufacturer SET Retail Price). Things go on discount or clearance only because the distributor decides that it's time.

What was the point in making the movie designs so hideous? To challenge the toy makers to try their best to make a toy that uses as many fake parts as possible to look kinda like the movie design?

Well first off machines with too many moving parts are prone to failure. Look at any movie fight where the bots just rips junks off of each other. Now try to transform and look like a car after having your door and parts of the bumper torn off. Except they do do that because the cars in the movies don't share battle damage from robot to vehicle mode for some reason.

Secondly what about the toys? The movie toys suffer massively when they are based on the onscreen characters. The toyline originals were good mostly because they didn't follow movie character designs.

It was a dumb idea to make them look like unrecognizable monster things instead of heroicly proportioned characters.

well look at the difference in design between Last Knight and Bumblebee.

the short version is that Bay thought Transformers needed to be redone to become cool, while Travis Knight understood that Transformers already is Cool, he tool elements of the movie design but parked it back to a chunkier more distinct look.

Ironically of the Bay movie designs I actually liked the constructicons and other weirdos best, with their distinctly odd robot modes, but then again I loved the Vehicons too

The Bumblebee aesthetic really strikes the perfect balance IMO. the only thing I didn't like were Shatter's mandibles. I like the idea of making the "evil" faction more bestial or alien, but a bunch of blender blades waggling around just doesn't look good to me. If anything, Dropkick's soundwavy thing was surprisingly nice. Maybe something like how Bionicle uses laserlights for the mouths of characters.

Help! Anyone know where I can get Generations Seacons Turtler and Gulf without getting scalped?? I see people getting them in-hand months before release, and I was wondering if there was like the old standard of Chinese factory workers selling legit product.
Is there a good website to look for that other than Chinese sellers on eBay? I noticed in the past even those sellers would raise prices over time, so I'm guessing all opportunity is lost. There's no way I'm paying a +100% mark-up, so I guess I'll have to wait and see how the market is in the future.

Combining is a bit of a pain, all the RiD guys were really, apart from Ruination. I think I have a couple instruction sheets saved as .pdf for things like RiD Megatron, ones I always forget the transformations of.

He definitely looks good in purple though, even though I never liked the mold much, for whatever reason he always came off as more fiddly than the others. Hightower and Wedge are both solid bots and Wedge is good fun, but man fuck Grimlock.
Definitely post the others as you mess around with them, I don't think I've seem more than a pic or two of that repaint set before today.

Never saw RiD? Early 2000s saw tons of name reuse for characters, it's mostly fallen off these days but there was a time they just reused whatever trademarked name they were close to using, just to keep the rights.

The one reason I have for wanting ER Arcee (ERcee?) is that with more or less her entire car mode being a removable piece of kibble she'd be ideal for using as a base for more or less any custom fembot. Detail up the robot mode, slap together a new vehicle mode "shell" and boom. Case in point, I kinda wanna use her for my Decepticon OC Ironside, who turns into a tank and wears her kibble like an armoured greatcoat.
