Any accurate paleontology figures out there? Ones of Hominids or dinosaurs that are 'scientifically accurate'? Im no /toy/ guy but I was impressed by the portrayal of maniraptorans by the 'Mesozoic Beasts' series of figures.

Unfortunately, this genre has only really been tapped by PAPO and cheap army man style lines. It's unfortunate really, since all these prehistoric beasts lend themselves well to toys. In fact, the only time I can recall seeing a "neanderthal" figure was in the old super Joe toy line from the 70s. Space Cavemen from Mars or some madness like that.

For prehistoric man, closest thing to being accurate I can think of was the caveman figure from the X-Files movie by McFarlane.

Kaiyodo did several lines of small figurines based on prehistoric creatures in their Capsule Q gashapon toys (basically higher-end gumball machine toys).

There were also GeoWorld kits of Mesozoic and Cenozoic creatures’ skeletons (Mammoth, gastornis, Megalotherium, T-Rex, Parasaurolophus, Velociraptor, etc)

If you like dinostatues, some of the most scientifically accurate dinostatues are made by a chinese company called PNSO. The sculpt quality is top notch, made by legit paleoartist who made big musem caliber statues.

To save money, they are casted in hollow vinyl, which I think it is nice. However paint details can be slightly lacking compared to master copy that is advertised in the picture

Yeah, I know. I wonder if a line of hominin collector figures at 1:12-ish scale would sell well as a kickstarter campaign? Like Beasts of the Mesozoic but with a Neanderthal, Homo erectus, Homo habilis, Australopithecus afarensis, and maybe Sahelanthropus.

Other than the ML Hitmonkey and the Neca PotA figures, primates in general are under-represented in detailed action figure forms.

Good lineup. I’d do a male and female of each of mine mentioned in >>8069875 to get a grand total of 8-10 figures. I’d start with the Neanderthal male, Australopithecus female, and Homo erectus male and then work the rest as stretch goals, maybe a special ‘Lucy’ A. afarensis as the final goal.

Exactly. I was thinking that maybe individual figures came with an in-scale replica of the specimen they’re based on (holotypes and first of the opposite sex). For example, Lucy could have a replica of her skeleton parts laid flat (pic related) with the bones set in clear plastic resin.
