It's apparently a part of the 'infinite finity' line. From interviews before, it was supposed to be a line about giving non G1/G1 characters with nonearth modes an earth mode in sorta G1 style. The first character was supposed to be Drift.

Havent had any breakages yet but i feel like its gonna happen in the future. I used a bit of 1000 grit sandpaper on the parts that are too tight. Its mainly the combiner bits that are like that, the individual bots have the right amount of tightness to their transformation joints.

Had the energon combiners as a kid, Bruticus with the FP upgrade as well. Not that desperate though. Worse comes to worse, I can learn to 3d model with my free time. Iron Factorys style just sits well with me.

It's legs are solid, the combined arm ratchets are are not perfect they could have used some additional engineering from the original size of the bots. The individual bots feel more solid than the original, and the size is what MT should have made it at the start.

only the grey and purple version comes with a starscream piece. Yellow and green are arbitrary "special" versions, special in this case meaning "comes without an extra piece". If you bought either green and purple you could try contacting the seller, but all batches in that colour should have come with the piece.
Similarly only the green version of Bulldog came with the arm. Everything that's considered a recolour lacks the starscream piece.

I love the WW figures, but the BAF aspect is just a giant shit show

I know which one you mean, it's everywhere and Rodimus had it too. I even liked some parts he did for mtmte a lot but then again the guys he drew there were mostly the djd and they have weirdo designs or no actual faces to begin with so it worked there. The more normal looking bots always feel pretty similar, especially the fembots. I think everything else looks great so there is potential there though and the chibis are nice anyway regardless of bot, somehow I liked his Megatrons as well.

I'm glad this is getting a rerelease because its the most soulful Jazz figure, but I already have the Zeta as my "toy" Jazz. These improved rereleases generally upset me because it makes me feel like I wasted it early adopting, but I'm not a fan of the "agent meister" decoes. Also I wish more companies did sticker homages as sculpts like Prowl did way back.

That's cool and all and it does go a long way into making it look less bland but it's still a major bummer that it's still just paint and not actual sculpting. When details like on the abs, hip skirts, and knees are painted on, they just look flat (because they are) and ultimately look no better than stickers. Very glad they added the alt mode paint though. The original just looked so painfully bland.

Yeah, they're still around. There's been a lot of radio silence and a slower production in the last year, which made people speculate(i.e. they share a factory with FansProject, which was part of that MAAS toys debacle, which hit them), but I think its just more that their designers are also behind other 3P stuff(I suspect the guys who did the seekers and Downbeat are working on some G1 Legends). Plus Maketoys is supposedly based in Japan, which is much less friendly about 3P stuff since their legal system can regulate them better.

While they are one of my favorites I can't say they are number 1. I love what they do with the CD line but they are at the point where they need to kick it up a notch on their MP offerings if they want to continue to compete there. If they would actually get stuff out the door with their headmasters and Galaxy Force stuff they could be making headway where others are not.

Ok so according to at least 3-4 MMC reps, this isn't an april fools. The line is MMC's equivalent to Maketoys Cross Dimensions but 'MP scale' and in a cleaner G1/IDW style. It will include various updates to characters in unique ways, various IDW style MP things, and original characters. Also mentioned before was a G1/Ox style earth mode Drift.

The concept bot from the art is an MP scale 'original' bot, about a head taller than their Reformatted Tarn at 8 inches. It's an original mold and not meant to be remolded into any existing character.

Aside from the cannon and hand proportions it's a solid figure. It's just does not capture Tarn well. To be honest I think the remolds were not entirely planned for given the kibble-tastic shell backpack that's bolted on them.

If anything, the problem is MT quit while they were ahead. Sure their early MP stuff was rusty, but the Seekers and Downbeat, while not perfect, quickly became the definitive MPs of those characters. Even with FT making their Jazz, I doubt a lot of people will upgrade. They managed to nail the toon look the best while also keeping their trademark focus on articulation.

The mold is solid as a rock, joints are excellent, and it has great articulation. It's also extremely simple for better and for worse. The biggest knock against it is the inaccuracy/proportions of the robot/alt modes and the dumb cannon attachment being too cumbersome (also inaccurate) for the elbow bend. It's certainly one of their strongest releases as far as a figure is concerned. Of what I have, their Wing/Drift and Impactor/turmoil, feel cut from the same cloth as far as build goes.

Its remold mates are built the same way but suffer from egregious backpacks.

Nice to finally see the scaling. Megs is about the size I imagined him to be minus comparison with Tarn maybe, I imagine him smaller than Megs. Honestly, I'd agree, it's a really excellent toy articulation wise. Amazing range on everything, ab crunch, the works.The only actual mechanical problem with it is the cannon kills the elbow range like dude said. The alt mode is kind of an abstract version of a tank, but even the transformation is very fun.

He just looks suffers from a really soft sculpt, like they just went with the first draft or something. So if you like what you see, you'll probably love him in-hand.

I wouldn't say the best, but pretty good. Solidly built, simple but effective transformation, and lots of articulations with the cannon off/repositionsed. Better than the Thunderclash and Roller retools that gave him worse articulation for no reason.

Best would have to be any variant of the Aero Alpha, Aeter Beta, or Stray mold, the last of which is getting a neat repaint last November.

One of them said that Maketoys has an "understanding" with H/TT now. They'll make stuff that officially can't get made (like MP Jazz) or that won't get remade officially (like more MP Seekers) and original designs like Cross Dimensions. Not really obscure but I would pay 300 dollars for a nice looking Tyrest or Proteus and I really want a Pharma too.
The lack of Pharma is actually weird since he was a big meme for years and a lot of Tarn fangrills that buy his toys love Pharma as well, and there are a lot of Tarn fangrills out there. I mainly want him because I just think that a medic jet is cool as hell and I love his wings and general design. Plus points if MMC or whoever made him would give him a chainsaw (or detached Ratchet head) as extra.
I also want Megatron X from Cyberverse because I am a sucker for black plated robots and alternative Megses.

I still have confidence they could do it. We've seen so many bullshit designs get figures that I really feel it's not a problem, most Bayformers, Prime Soundwave, to name a few. It can be done. It just may be a problem of if the engineering and character itself seems like it would to sell to whoever would consider making it.

So only brown and gray are ever allowed to be serious? Also, the G1 Marvel comics, both the US and the UK runs, handled gritty and serious long before IDW so it's nothing new at all for the series. If you don't like it when they don't feel like being cheesey action schlock, that's fine, but don't act like it's not ever allowed to step outside that box.

Things got a lot better near the end but overall I agree. I think the best example was the Unicron thing. It was an interesting concept to play with but it only served to write themselves into a corner because the consequences were far too drastic to actually do anything with so the best we got was mini-Cron mooks made out of rocks and the typical "shine the matrix at him" conclusion. Funny how Bayverse wanted to do the same thing and look where that ended up. Nowhere. In fact, if Bayverse ever does continue, they already confirmed they're just leaving that thread untouched and moving on, not actually retconning it but still ignoring that it ever happened because the only way to actually do anything cool with it would require to much time and budget and would basically irreparably alter the world in a way that would lose the casual audience those movies depend on.
