Do children seriously not buy toys anymore? Why is it that American companies aren't making licensed toys of cartoon properties anymore?

I think the other reason there werent toys for a show like SU, was because the show's plot progressed so quickly. Peridot wasnt a villain anymore, Steven grew up, Rose was Pink all along...

All kids shows now are slice of life-esque comedies. Not toyetic enough. As a kid I barely got Dexter's lab toys either, despite the robots in that being ripe for figures.

It certainly worked back in the day when we were kids, though it might not now anywhere as well just due to the retail market being what it is. The days of aisles of different lines with substantial shelf presence just isn’t coming back.

I just bought this guy recently, he's great. I just wish some of his joints were easier to move. In their attempt to stop loose joints with ratchets, some toymakers went too far and now moving the joints is like cracking bones. I can't imagine how kids get some of this shit to pose, cause me with an adult level of strength is struggling.

Basically it's just hard to translate some designs into plastic because of that.
Rise especially suffered from it, coming off of 2k12 which directly played ball with playmates too.
This is why live action scifi stuff tends to do better these days.

I'm an old fart myself and I enjoyed Regular Show very much ever since I saw the original two black and white shorts but come on, those figures look awful. As someone who enjoyed the show I wouldn't buy those things. They look like the sort of Eldritch horrors what would show up in some of the shows. Misshapen ugly clones wearing the skin of the guys they are attempting to impersonate.

Kids aren't buying toys anymore due to technology being much easier to hit their seratonin cetners, parent using tables as they did in the old days with television as a babysitter and frankly toy companies either marketing to adults in an attempt to hit their nostalgia button or making toys that look nothing only vaguely like the characters they were meant to represent.

SU merch existed, but it was bad. The problem is that when a show gets merch, the people in charge don't want to take a chance with spending a ton of money on something 'good' when past experiences show that they don't sell. But the problem with that is mainly due to the execs ALWAYS going with shitty companies to make merch, so it never got a chance to be good and it has become the norm.

Speaking of SU, I'm still astonished that they never managed to get Garnet's gauntlets to market. That was the #1 most anticipated piece of merch for me and many other people I knew, and they never released it.

Not really ontopic, but I actually enjoyed the Regular Show. was pretty surprised a kids show made today was so based. so based it got canceled, wouldn't be surprised to see it go on adult swim down the road because I could see a lot of other young adults liking it.
