What figures do you own that you bought because it looked cool, even though you have no idea what the source material is, nor will you ever consume it?

I've never watched Dragonball, only seen vague memes and pop-culture references, but I just bought this dragon because it looks kinda rad.

I bought Legendary Heroes Pitt for just this reason back in the day.
I'd never heard of the comic before hand and had no interest in reading it but it was a big dumb 90's comic figure and I wanted it. Also helped that the wave was £5 a figure.

Like half of the figures I own are mainly because I think they look cool, especially mecha figures. I loved Power rangers and Beast Wars as a kid and always wished there were more transforming robot toys available. I'd ask for KOs of Japanese mecha figures are asian toystores as a kid because they always had some interesting bootleg of some unknown to me mecha anime.My brother-in-law (who's much older than me since my sister is 16 years older) would take me out as a kid and would buy figures himself based on design he thought were cool or what sculpts he liked. Stuff like Spawn figures usually, but also the odds and ends of lines you'd find at stores in the 90s, like battlestar galactica. Still have that mentality today, though I have to hold myself back often.

Most of the time I just end up watching documentaries or some comedy like Curb your enthusiasm than watch anime. Pic related, I bought the original Sentinel Dancouga, the KO, and the new one on the way just becuase I love the design so muvh. I've maybe watched the OVA years ago.

There's more of an ongoing plot with heisei/modern riders but I'd still say Black has a special place in my heart. Out of the modern ones on your shelf, my fav to watch were Kuuga, Build, Amazons and Kabuto. Still, they're great toys, looks good and poses damned well.

Not a Kamen Rider fan, but I do have a few Showa riders. Have seen clips here and there. the old Riders have a great aesthetic appeal where as the new stuff is just gaudy crap.

Yeah got her too, just cause I like the tracksuit look, especially the 3/4s pants. She's fun to pose. The only disappointment is her waist joints are a bit loose. Found out later she's from some Idol mobile game where you train potential popstars or something.

I think there's some good and bad looking riders on both sides

Riderman, Stronger, and Tackle look like they were designed by kids like with Jet Jaguar.

Then Ex aid, Gaiz, the green side of W, and that bright pink one from Zero one also look gaudy to me.

They're disappointing and not that great in person, probably should have gotten one of the Kotobukiya model kits. I guess they're alright if you don't mind fiddling with the articulation to get the poses just right and slightly warped plastic in a few places.

I'm glad I never played Nier because I bought that first 2B and everyone says the 2.0 is better because its more accurate. But I don't care because the 1.0 is sexy enough for me and the only thing the 2.0 improves is accuracy, not necessarily aesthetics.

Did this a lot as a kid because I've never seen an episode or read anything of GI Joe but any of the figures wearing fatigues made great poachers/security teams for my Jurassic Park toys. And for Star Wars I had a wealth of sci fi and flight suited characters to pick from for scum and bounty hunters.

I'm more of a pokemon person myself, but that's not to say I never liked digimon...I just never got anymore toys or games past grade school...but when Toys r us was shutting down, and the deals were just getting crazy cheap...I saw this gem pretty much half off, and just couldn't pass it off...one of my favorite figures I own, and it was out of sheer impulse.

I bought that, thinking it might be a decent KO figure since the MK 85 KO SHF didn't fail me. It didn't, it literally fell apart when I opened the box.

Go buy the Figure-Rise Standard Build model kit. Might need some painting tho. Go buy the SHF Cross-Z charge if you want a decently priced Banjou figure.

Fortnite's a pretty good example of this sort of thing. Could not be paid to give a shit about the game itself, but I have like 3 of the McFarlane figures just because of the designs. Red Strike is my favorite.

I found this guy at a small toyshow for 25$. At the time I never heard of kamen rider, but I knew about shf being good figures and since he looks cool I figured this was a good deal. Eventually I did watch some KR series but I've never watched his.
